First putty plasterboard for painting: what helped me get a good result

click fraud protection

I continue to make repairs in my house. I went up to the puttying of the walls and ceiling and then a plug turned out. It is one thing to putty a small unevenness, and another to a large area.

The first attempts were simply nightmarish: there were stripes from the spatula, when trying to remove them, new ones were obtained, and it seemed this process is endless.

I began to look for visual videos on how to putty drywall for painting. There were mainly those where they showed tonly sealing of seamsand in some only showed how to putty without explanation.

And only one video clip gave me the answer: how do you need to putty drywall and what tools are needed for this.

As a result, the first time I got a good result. Of course, at first I did it slowly and not very well, but by the end of the room it became noticeably faster and smoother.

I took some photos after two layers of putty and after sanding. (Scroll through the gallery)

Here you can see traces of transitions of puttying of different areas and traces from the tool, but they are very small and then they were easily leveled by grinding. (Scroll through the gallery)

And here is the video clip, thanks to which I start to get something.

After watching this video, I bought myself a trowel and as a beginner, it turned out to be much easier for me to work with it than with a spatula, especially when puttingty the ceiling.

I bought a ironer at Leroy Merlin. Of all that I found there, this one seemed the most reliable and even. The only thing originally on it were teeth on both sides. I cut these teeth with a grinder and aligned the edge so that all sides could be used when working.

Another life hack that I did spontaneously. In the same Leroy took a bucket for mixing putty, and his bottom turned out to be with a slight rounding. After suffering one day of scraping the putty with a metal spatula, I bought a small plastic spatula and cut the corners from it to the shape of a bucket. Now I completely choose the putty from it.

One more room, corridor and kitchen have to be putty. I think it will be even better by the end.
