Roof ridge aero element. You do not need to save on it, so as not to remodel the roof.
When installing a roof made of metal tiles or metal profiles, irresponsible teams or self-builders themselves are trying to save money on everything. For example, they save on a cornice ventilation tape, considering that this is an extra element:
Birds can penetrate under the roof (carry insulation from there). And if they spoil the windproof film, then the insulation and rafters will get wet from the condensation.
But even more often they save on this element:
If you just cover with a skate, then in a blizzard, snow will penetrate through the recesses in the roofing sheets under the skate and accumulate there. In the spring, this will lead to wetting of the crate and possible leaks into the insulation.
The easiest option is to close it with foam pieces. But they are not durable. And birds can pull them out for their nests.
The most correct examples of mounting a ridge will be as follows:
Reception from the technology of installation of polymer tiles. Such a roofing material is rare, but a ventilation film or a ridge aero element must be used when installing a metal roof.
This is a membrane made of geotextiles or other vapor-permeable material, and at the edges there are corrugated aluminum strips with an adhesive strip made of butyl rubber composition. Geotextiles are often made with microperforations for better ventilation of the under-roof space. This, on the one hand, better ventilates the under-roof space, and on the other, it leads to leakage from melting snow. But in any case, it is better than without the aero element.
Comparison of aerial elements from several manufacturers in the video:
They all work. It's just a matter of price and durability. You can purchase an inexpensive ventilation tape and soak it yourself with a water repellent. But, of course, it is better not to save money, but to purchase an aero element at a higher price. This is not so much in the price of the roof. For example, TM Grand line with brown color:
Rolls of 2.4 and 5 m. Width 240 mm. In addition to brown, there is also black. This is the third generation of the Grand line ridge aero element. In this version, micro-perforated geotextiles are impregnated with water repellents. It still remains breathable and breathable. But neither water nor snow will penetrate into the under-roof space. It is important. And corrugated aluminum foil strips with bitumen glue along the edges will allow you to reliably glue the aero element to the roof.
Even this premium segment does not add much to the cost of 1 m2 of roofing. But it will save you from possible problems in the future.
