“Three years ago I bought half of the house with a small plot. There are neighbors on three sides, everyone has vegetable gardens in the yards. I decided to use my land in a different way - to build a bathhouse, a carport, and lay out the entire yard with paving slabs.

Before construction, he began to clear the area of ​​weeds. Since it is useless to mow the grass here (it will still crawl through), I decided once and for all to corrode it with fence chemistry. I bought two products - one is applied to the ground, and the other - to the leaves and stems. The processing was carried out according to the instructions.

After about 10 days, the grass turned yellow, partially dried up, but after the rains began to revive again. Well, I repeated the procedure two more times and still achieved my result. But it was too early to rejoice - after the rains at the neighbors, all the vegetation in the garden also began to turn yellow.

All this chemistry with rainwater somehow got into the neighboring gardens and caused them serious harm. Some have withered strawberries, damaged cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and garlic. Others “burned down” a couple of young fruit trees and berry bushes. In general, everything that grew next to my fence was mercilessly destroyed.

He did not deny himself: he admitted his guilt and paid all the penalties to his neighbors. It turned out about 15 thousand rubles. I felt very sorry for them then - the children were waiting for berries, the hostess waited for vegetables and fruits to spin, and I ruined everything. Now I remove the grass on the tiles only in "environmentally friendly" ways. "

There are a number of relatively safe weed control methods.

Thermal impact

The most environmentally friendly way to control weeds is thermal exposure. It can be carried out in two ways.

The first is with open fire. This is done with a gas torch or blowtorch. The grass is simply burned to the ground. The main thing here is to damage the root system of the weed with fire and then it will be finished with it.

The second option is with boiling water. Plants can also get a thermal burn and die from this. All you need to do is scald the weed with boiling water. To enhance the effect, you can add 250-300 grams of salt to a bucket of water.

But this is more suitable for small areas: seams between paving slabs, cracks in concrete or asphalt pavement, gaps between the blind area and the basement, small thickets of weeds, etc. The use of boiling water and an open flame in large areas will be economically impractical.

Salt

Salt is the enemy of plants, but it must be used correctly. On the basis of salt and soap, a homemade herbicide solution is prepared. Proportions: 2 kilograms of salt, 10 liters of water, 200 grams of liquid soap. The soap increases the viscosity and allows the solution to adhere to the leaves. This herbicide must be applied to the plants with a garden spray. The effect is guaranteed! And by the way, large areas can be treated with soap and salt solution.

Soda

Ordinary soda can also act as a herbicide. Recipe: 100 grams of baking soda must be dissolved in 1.5 liters of warm water and add 10 ml of liquid soap. The solution is also applied to the leaves of the weeds. Soda solution works great with dandelions.

The enemy of hogweed and all tubular plants is vinegar

Vinegar is a powerful herbicide capable of “knocking down” even such a giant as Sosnovsky's hogweed. Ingredients: dilute 200 grams of 70% vinegar in 2.5 liters of cold water. Apply with sprayer to weed leaves. The procedure is best carried out in hot, calm weather, since under these conditions the effect of vinegar is enhanced.

A vinegar injection can be injected into a large hogweed bush. To do this, draw 20–30 ml of vinegar into a syringe and inject into the stem at a height of 50–70 cm from the root. During this procedure, it is imperative to use personal safety equipment - glasses and gloves!
