The first low-speed turbine for nuclear power plants was manufactured and successfully tested in Russia
The first Russian low-speed turbine for NPPs (Nuclear Power Plants) was successfully produced at the facilities of Power Machines. In addition, the LMZ (Leningrad Metal Plant) has already tested the prototype of the Russian low-speed turbine with an installed capacity of 1255 MW.
The turbine was fully developed and designed by engineers of the highly specialized design bureau LMZ "Turbina". At the same time, all the requirements of such a unique project as "VVER-TOI" (water-moderated power reactor typical optimized information) were taken into account.
So, according to the statements of representatives of "Silmash", the main technical parameters of the key units of the created installation quite allow in the future on its basis create a turbine, its use will be permissible in turbine plants with an installed capacity ranging from 1600 to 1800 MW per one unit.
It is difficult to overestimate the production of the prototype of such a turbine. After all, this event means that JSC Power Machines, which previously specialized exclusively in high-speed high-speed turbines, are able to enter a new market of low-speed turbines of increased power and not only fully compete with foreign corporations, but also fulfill a very important import substitution program in the high-tech sector equipment.
And thus, to secure the Russian Federation in terms of technology and allow the full implementation of any ambitious projects aimed at the development of the Russian energy sector.
Well, it's nice to know that despite all the difficulties, Russian scientists are working and creating high-tech equipment, which will allow maintaining and even strengthening Russia's position on the world arena.
