Fuel additives that I have used in my cars. Do they make sense?
It is known that the fuel in a car engine does not burn completely. The degree of combustion depends both on the health of the systems of the vehicle itself and on the quality of the fuel. The drop in power is noticeable on high-mileage vehicles. Additives exist to improve engine performance through better fuel combustion. A separate category of additives is fuel combustion catalysts.
I'll tell you about the ones that I used in my cars. The first such additive was CASTROL TBE.
I used this additive in the early 2000s. Then it was inexpensive in terms of 1 liter of gasoline. It is added to gasoline in a ratio of 1: 1000. According to the manufacturer, this gasoline additive does not change the octane number of gasoline, but only improves detonation resistance. Increases lubricating properties, has detergent properties, binds water in fuel. According to my feelings - the effect was, especially felt on the track. And, according to reviews from other car owners, the engine runs smoother. For diesel engines - the additive is called Castrol TDA.
For better mixing, it is added to the tank just before refueling. But when the price of the additive rose, like the oil of this manufacturer, he refused it. I know that LIQUI MOLY and Suprotec have similar fuel additives. But I haven't tried them, I can't say anything.
Later I used the so-called fuel combustion catalyst in soluble tablets under the brand name ENVIRO TABS.
The tablets are dark green in color with a naphthalene odor. They were sold by a company that traded in the Roil Platinum metal conditioner. I wrote about these additives in oil here.
The cost of the bag at that time was about RUB 1000 Inside there were 10 tablets of 500 mg each (for tanks of trucks). One tablet per 200 liters of fuel. I dissolved the pill in a 100 ml container with gasoline and poured 25 ml of this potion into the tank at each refueling of 50 liters of fuel (according to the labels on the bottle). Potion - because the color of the gasoline in the container was turning emerald green. The cost of a bag of 10 pcs. added 0.5 rubles. to the price of a liter of gasoline.
There was some fuel economy, the engine ran smoother. As explained, the effect was achieved due to the catalytic properties of the additive and more complete combustion of the fuel. And those truckers who added ENVIRO TABS to truck tanks saved dozens of liters per trip. The company called them "engine vitamins." But then, after a sharp change in the exchange rate, the company refused to supply this imported product to Russia.
Later, they sent me the MAGRO BOOST additive for promotion.
Separately for gasoline and separately for diesel fuel, like CASTROL. For diesel fuel, they still lie, because interest in them was weak.
My opinion is this: if you are going to operate the car for more than three years, if you have a used one, then prevention in the form of more frequent oil changes and the use of proven additives, fuel additives are not will interfere. But you need to take into account the economic feasibility. The cost of the additive should not be higher than 0.3-0.5 rubles / liter of fuel.
Who used something from this class of autochemistry - write your review.
I never had a chance to try additives in fuel for a chainsaw or petrol trimmer. I wonder if the power will increase from a more complete combustion of fuel? Will the exhaust become cleaner?
