A phenomenon has been discovered that fundamentally changes the concept of dark matter in the Universe
Deep space exploration does not stop for a minute, and during the study of the next portion of the received data astronomers have recorded a phenomenon that literally radically changes the knowledge of scientists about dark matter in The universe.
So, based on the data obtained from the National Institute of Astrophysics in Italy, in several galaxies considered, the density of dark matter is significantly higher than the calculated parameters. In this case, the difference between theoretical calculations and experimental data reaches the same order of magnitude.
This may indicate either the as yet unknown properties of invisible matter, or fundamental problems in understanding the processes taking place in space.
How this phenomenon was discovered
Astronomers analyzed the images obtained using the Hubble Space Telescope and looked for the so-called gravitational lenses are a phenomenon that occurs when an object with significant mass deflects its trajectory Sveta.
So dark matter is also capable of deflecting light and creating gravitational lenses. This distortion appears when viewing images of background galaxies. Their images are deformed.
At the same time, a simple principle is observed: the stronger the distortion, the larger and stronger the gravitational field and, therefore, the greater the mass of the object (in our case, it is dark matter).
With this simple approach, scientists create fairly detailed maps of the location of dark matter in space.
During the study of the next batch of images of 11 galaxy clusters, it was noticed that something is forming small lensing effects that are invisible on the scale of the entire cluster.
This fact directly indicates that in these areas there is a huge amount of dark matter, which is not predicted by the best mathematical models, with the help of which the properties of the invisible substances.
So far, scientists cannot explain this phenomenon in any way and continue to study images to accumulate statistical data.
This fact only indicates that humanity still knows very little about the world around it.
