Architectural dictatorship: what is prohibited in the US private sector

click fraud protection

Some thirty years ago, Western life seemed to us like an earthly paradise. Hollywood regularly churned out films that painted a picture of developed and excessively happy capitalism in the heads of some fellow citizens. But over time it turned out that everything is not quite so and their "freedoms" are somewhat similar to the routine of one not so distant security facility. What is prohibited in their private sector - read on!

Overhaul without the approval of the authorities

If we can make major repairs or redevelopment of a private house without asking anyone, then they need the approval of the authorities. That is, if an American wants to move a wall, put up a partition, re-arrange the floor, change windows, or even install additional sockets (do holes in the walls, wire a wire, install sockets and sockets), then you need to get a special repair license and agree on everything changes. And this time and money - such things are not done for free and quickly!

But that's not all. If, after major repairs, the house has undergone significant changes, then the tax rate on it can easily be raised as for modernized housing. Wildly? For us - yes!

It would seem, but what will prevent "on the sly" gash a couple of sockets? Answer: neighbors. They have a different upbringing and different customs there. If vigilant and law-abiding neighbors sense that someone is engaged in illegal actions, they will definitely report it to the appropriate authorities. It's customary for them ...

Deaf high fences from the front of the yard

Privacy tirades are heard from across the ocean, although there, in the vast majority of states, high blank fences that enclose the front yard are prohibited by law. That is, the fence should be low and non-capital. As you know, the houses there are mostly frame, they burn quickly and brightly, and therefore fire safety rules require unhindered access for special equipment to buildings. This is probably correct, but unacceptable for us. In our understanding: my home is my fortress. This means that if the fence is so deaf and high that not a single prying eye can see what is happening in the yard!

And, of course, low fences help to reduce the level of their "crime". Everyone sees everything, and if anything, they will inform you in time where necessary. What if a neighbor makes illegal sockets behind a high fence? It is imperative to stop!

Arbitrary view of the house

Architectural dictatorship - this is how briefly this phenomenon can be called. If you see neatly trimmed emerald lawns and lush flower beds in front of American homes, this does not mean that gardening and lawn mowing is in their blood. The local administration is also compelled to do this. The fact is that the appearance of the area reflects its rating, which directly affects the cost per square meter of housing in this very area. For this reason, local governments closely monitor lawns and the general condition of houses. And, most likely, disobeying officials there costs money. As you can imagine, the measure of coercion in this case is a fine. Areas of high culture of life! Doesn't it look like anything?

Well, the cherry on the cake. The regulatory documents of local governments clearly state what color the house should be, which extensions can be made and which cannot, and other subtleties. That is, it will not work to paint a house green on a “beige” street. Moreover, it will not be possible to use the land at your own discretion, for example, to make beds. Well, how can our man be forced to remove the fence from his favorite corrugated board, replace the strawberry beds with a patterned lawn with flower beds and paint his house in the color of the entire street? It won't work for us ...
