Making a simple solid sofa with your own hands in a home workshop. Project and materials. Part 1
This sofa will soon be 6 years old. I made it for my mother and during this time it proved to be a convenient and reliable piece of furniture.
Next, there will be a number of publications along with video clips, in which I will tell you in detail about the steps of making this sofa.
In the manufacturing process, many homemade gadgets were used.
First, I made a detailed project using SketchUp.
The construction of the base has been developed taking into account the possible manufacture of the chair. To do this, it is enough to change the length of the parts that connect the armrests.
At that time, I had some stock of 25 mm edged boards, so I designed a sofa from this board taking into account.
At the end of the article there will be a link to the drawings for manufacturing, including the model for SketchUp and detailing.
These are the boards I used to make this sofa.
Six years ago, my home workshop was just being formed and I was actively using homemade devices.
I planed the boards on a homemade planer.
Instead of a jointer, I used a circular device.
And after leveling the edges, he cut the workpieces to size on the same homemade circular.
Trimmed to size in length on a simple slide for circular.
At the first stage of work on a project, you need to carefully prepare the blanks for further work. To do this, it is convenient to have a list of parts at hand, as well as make notes on the parts themselves, so that it is more convenient to work with them.
As a material, you can also use ready-made planed boards or furniture board. In this case, it will be enough to cut the parts to size according to the list.
More details about the initial work on the project can be viewed from video clip.
