This method is more suitable than anything else for dehumidification of damp, unventilated rooms. All that is needed is to pour a kilogram of ordinary table salt into a plastic container or any other container, and leave it in a damp room for two days. During this time, the salt will dry the air by pulling excess moisture out of it.

Salt, having absorbed water, becomes damp and stops absorbing moisture. But you don't need to throw it away. The raw salt must be dried - put in a frying pan or baking sheet and sent to a preheated oven for 15 minutes. Further, it should be slightly crushed, placed in a container and put back into a damp room.

For dehumidification of premises, salt can be used up to 10-15 times. This factor makes this method very inexpensive. For example, 1 kilogram of salt can remove moisture from a 15-18 square meter room. meters within one month. If in late autumn, winter and early spring it is required to maintain low air humidity in the cellar, then this will take approximately 5-7 kilograms of salt. It's pretty inexpensive.

This way you can easily get rid of excess moisture and keep indoor humidity under control, minimizing the risk of mold growth and spread. And mold, as you know, does not settle in dry places.

The method is great in cellars where vegetables are stored. High humidity causes vegetables to sprout and deteriorate. And salt, which absorbs excess water, dries up the air and prevents the development of these processes.

Common table salt contains an admixture of potassium chloride. Potassium chloride is hygroscopic and it is he who absorbs water molecules, which causes the recrystallization of sodium chloride (salt). During the reaction of potassium chloride with water molecules, salt caking occurs. After getting wet, the salt tends to turn to stone.
