There is a good way to make plugs from plastic containers. To do this, you need to put a piece of a plastic bottle upside down on the rack and point a hair dryer at it so that under the influence of hot air the plastic will stretch and take the shape of a pipe. Thus, within a few minutes, a sealed plug is obtained.

The method is good, but it has drawbacks. Firstly, it is short-lived: under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, or, more simply, the sun's rays, the plastic can heat up and crack. Secondly, it is not aesthetically pleasing: it is difficult for such plugs to give the same shape, and if they are painted in the color of the pillars, the paint will quickly peel off and it will be conspicuous. Thirdly, such plugs are not very convenient to do: in order to connect a hairdryer, you need to have an impressive extension cord or generator.

How to easily and reliably plug hollow metal racks

An ordinary cement-sand mortar is suitable for this. First you need to place a tightly crumpled cloth in the tube. She will act as a cork. This plug should be at a distance of 7-10 centimeters from the top of the pipe.

Next, you need to prepare a solution in the proportions of 1 part of cement and 2 parts of building sand. The consistency of the solution should be similar to thick sour cream. After that, you just need to fill the pipe with the solution to the top. Thus, a monolithic concrete plug will be obtained at the top of the pipe.

The top of the pipe must be covered with a bag so that the hydration process takes place and the concrete hardens qualitatively. Concrete should mature in a humid environment and not dry in the wind or sun. After 4–6 days, the cellophane can be removed, and after 10–12 days the plug should be primed 2 times and then painted.

This will create a reliable, durable and inconspicuous plug that prevents snow and rainwater from entering the metal support.
