Construction of new Doomsday planes has started in Russia
In Voronezh, the construction of the so-called "Doomsday" aircraft has started - an air command post, designed to coordinate troops in the event of a nuclear conflict, based on the latest wide-body IL-96-400M. This became known to RIA Novosti from its sources in the military-industrial complex.
The project for the creation of such winged aircraft is called "Link-3S" and as part of its implementation, two aircraft will be built. In the future, it is also possible to build a third air command post (VKP).
At the moment, in the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS), four air command posts, implemented on the basis of the Il-80, are on alert at once. So the product "65c", which according to the NATO classification is called Maxdome, was developed approximately in the second half of the 1980s.
And in addition to its main task (coordination and control of all types of troops), this board is intended for the evacuation of the highest military leadership.
And its flight characteristics are such that it (the board) can be fully exploited in a nuclear conflict. Of course, all the detailed information on this aircraft is a state secret.
And how are things with a potential adversary?
In already distant May 2019, the US Air Force E-4B Nightwatch air command post was shown on CNBC, which has a nickname similar to the Russian board - "Doomsday plane." So the American board is based on the passenger version of the Boeing 747, and one of the four boards is always in full readiness.
It is noteworthy that almost simultaneously with the publication of the news that a new CCCP will be created in Russia, Pentagon press secretary D. Kirby tweeted a video showing refueling of the E-4B in the air.
Well, despite the seemingly peaceful environment, the invisible race of technology and development continues. And it is very good that the Russian Federation is in no way inferior to its Western opponents.
