How to get rid of an unpleasant smell in your refrigerator once and for all. 6 actionable tips
You probably at least once in your life had to feel the unpleasant amber that came from an open refrigerator. Or to feel a disgusting taste, for example, of cheese, which has managed to absorb extraneous odors, passing its own along the way to other food products. In general, history is as old as the world, and not everyone knows what to do in this case.
Good afternoon dear friends!
But you need to act! For a small, almost imperceptible "odor" in an enclosed space can firmly eat into the plastic and rubber parts of the refrigerator. And, as a result, it will be extremely difficult to get rid of it later. Although not impossible, since there are a lot of options! Someone resorts to the help of industrial means in the fight against "aromas": all kinds of absorbers, sprays and ionizers-fresheners. And someone uses folk, time-tested methods.
That's what I wanted to tell you about today. Why? Yes, because they simple, no less effective and inexpensive, which can not be said about store odor neutralizers.
1.Baking soda. Let's start with the fact that in any case, you need to clean the refrigerator well! At the same time, it should be "cleaned" regularly - once a month. And only after that, remember the folk life hacks. In our case, it's about baking soda. It will need to be poured into a small cup or plastic container and simply put on the shelf in the refrigerator.
Once inside, it will absorb all unpleasant scents. The only thing is that in about a month the soda will have to be replaced with a new one. But it will come out in any case more economical than purchasing special cleaning products.
2.Table vinegar. You cannot live without fish (fresh, salted, smoked ...), the smell of which almost instantly fills the refrigerator with specific amber? It doesn't matter, because there is a solution that allows you to get rid of not only him, but also of bad bacteria. You just need to pour 20 ml of 9% table vinegar into a small container, and then put it inside on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator.
Vinegar, like soda, will absorb anything and everything! But there is a nuance - it needs to be changed more often, once every two weeks.
3.Coffee grounds. This is a gorgeous deodorant. Therefore, never rush to throw it into the trash bin ahead of time. First, transfer the grounds to a small container and place in the refrigerator. Just don't dry anything, the thick must be wet. But as soon as it dries up, send it to its destination with a calm soul and a clear conscience.
Personally, I like the coffee smell in the refrigerator more than the vinegar smell.
4.A slice of lemon. Another time-tested natural neutralizer of various odors. Just cut it into wedges and place in different cups. Place one at the top of the refrigerator and the other at the bottom. Actually, that's all.
But keep in mind that lemon has one significant drawback - it dries up quickly and stops working. At this point, it must be replaced with a fresher fruit. Otherwise, the unpleasant amber will quickly spread through your refrigerator.
5.Activated carbon. I won't talk about the properties of this porous substance, everyone knows about them! But not everyone knows that it can be used to combat bad fridge odors. And you just need to grind the "tablets" into powder, pour into a cup and refrigerate. That's all.
By the way, in a similar way, you can use charcoal, which you have left from your trip to barbecue, but it is less effective.
6.An ordinary newspaper. It's no secret that vegetables deteriorate quickly enough, especially if they are not properly prepared for storage. And it doesn't matter where they will be located: in the garage, in the basement or in the refrigerator. So, in order to stop the spread of an unpleasant smell, you can put a newspaper in the tray at the bottom, where cabbage, carrots or beets will lie.
It not only absorbs specific amber, but also simplifies further cleaning for you. Since you can always throw it away and put a new one that was thrown into your mailbox just yesterday.
