If the nail “does not hold” the dowel
It happens that this annoyance takes place when the fasteners do not hold the first time and you have to "chemize" something. So it happened this time, I laid the waterproofing, OSB sheets, it is necessary to fasten the dowel with nails, it holds it somewhere, in some places it does not.
Problem
Usually in such a situation you begin to twist, then you cut out a part of the plastic snipe and insert it into the already installed one so that the nail bursts them more strongly. But it happens that neither this, nor a couple of nails forgotten in one place, does not solve the problem. This is especially annoying when you need to score more than a dozen of them.
Why it happens
Often due to the wrong choice, because there are different configurations of the "plug", some smooth for the concrete monolith, and others for a "looser" base.
Found a solution!
I just had smooth ones, and the concrete floor was frankly loose, and the nails were hammered in every other time. I got an idea that I decided to test.
In addition to number 6 dowels, I was 8 more. But what if the "plug" is set to 6 and a thicker nail from 8 is hammered into it?
Tried it and it went right away, the fasteners were held tight, exactly what is needed. And how did you not think of this before?
This, of course, makes installation a little more expensive, but it saves time, and it is more expensive. How do you like this idea, how did you solve the problem yourself?
