Why overpay if you can do it yourself? 5 illustrative examples of DIY headboards
The headboard is one of the main decorative elements of any bedroom. It brings zest to the room, serves as a unifying "detail" between furniture and accessories, and sometimes even acts as an additional system storage for books, souvenirs, etc. Therefore, it is not surprising that furniture manufacturers have become extremely serious about this element. beds.
Good afternoon dear friends!
And as a result, there were copies of a bed with a soft headboard, carved, forged... corresponding to modern realities: style, color palette, size. Which could not but affect the overall price of the bed! It has increased, and not just by some 5-10%, but several times. And sometimes it began to reach the cost of a budget car. Which, as for me, is extremely strange, because this element of the interior can be made by yourself, while spending a few pennies.
And to prove this fact to you, I picked up 5 cool DIY headboards that are outrageously simple to manufacture. All you need is your hands and a couple of three materials, and that's it!
1.Neon headboard. An excellent example of creativity in the production of a modern graphic interior element. Which will require from you a couple of wooden bars 20 by 30 mm, several meters of colored rope, paint, dowels, screws and a couple of tools: saws, drill-screwdriver, hammer, brush. So, in order to make a neon headboard, you first need to cut the timber into blanks.
Remember that the headboard should be at least 40 cm higher than the mattress and 10 cm. wider on each side of the bed.
Considering the above, we make blanks, then we grind them and paint them in at least two layers. Then we collect them into a single structure and drill holes through which the colored rope will pass later. Now, neatly, below the level of the mattress, we fasten the headboard to the wall, skip the twine and VUAL, the neon headboard is ready.
2."Paper" headboard. An even simpler option for making a headboard at home. You will need a piece of plywood (for example, 110 x 140 cm), a piece of wallpaper (slightly larger than plywood), double-sided tape, and hardware to connect the headboard to the wall.
And then everything is simple! We take a piece of plywood, glue double-sided tape to it, and then wrap it tightly with wallpaper, so that the piece of wallpaper goes 10 centimeters on the back wall. Then we additionally glue this surplus with stationery tape. Actually, that's all, you just have to attach the head of the bed to the wall with fasteners and attach the bed to it.
3.Vintage headboard. Please tell me: what materials are paramount when furnishing a space in a vintage style? That's right - wood, ceramics and metal. So, I suggest you make a headboard out of wood. At the same time, you do not need a lot of it, literally two slats and several planed boards. And to these a couple of other materials: self-tapping screws, dowels and paint for artificial aging of wood.
Now let's try to make the headboard itself! To do this, take a rail and attach it horizontally to the wall at a distance of 5 cm from the floor. Then the second one at 1.20 m from the floor. Then lay the planks on the floor in a random order (one above, one below), mark and cut off the excess. And now we take the boards and, according to the conceived "drawing", fasten them vertically to the plank, apply the paint in two layers and enjoy the result.
4.Geometric headboard. Don't have the desire and ability to tinker with wood when making a handmade headboard? No problem! You can try drawing it right on the wall. But there are a number of nuances here! First, the base, i.e. the wall should be a perfectly flat surface, secondly, you need to understand the process of painting the walls itself, and, thirdly, you really need to understand the paint itself well. And only then start to work.
So, in order to "make" such a headboard, you first need to draw the borders of the figures with a pencil, then stick on masking tape, and only then apply paint. It's simple enough, but! And here there are a lot of pitfalls: this is the right choice of tools, and the sequence of actions, and a waste of your precious time. But if everything works out for you, then the 100% headboard will become the most memorable feature of the entire bedroom interior.
5.Headboard made of stickers. Well, this is perhaps the fastest, easiest and cheapest way to make a headboard. For to make it, you only need to purchase self-adhesive stickers of a triangular shape and masking tape, and so on.
Now we take the stickers and use the masking tape to temporarily glue them to the wall. Why is it temporary? It's simple to be able to play with the exposure: change the direction of the stickers, the distance from each other, the angle tilt, etc. And only after the "picture" seems finished to you it will be possible to stick stickers on the wall forever and ever. Actually, EVERYTHING!
