Sole Winner of the Yellow Heavyweight Competition
Defeated high-quality tomato Plan 9 from Open Space. The origin of such a strange name wrote here
Because of the name, I did not think to grow it. But a kind person Tatyana from Nizhnekamsk sent me seeds of 10 varieties that they grow every year, among them is Plan 9 from Open Space. Thank you Tatiana! The tomato stands out from over 100 varieties, I would call it the most amazing.
Shot 9 from Open Space yellow-orange-red minke. The weight of the largest fetus turned out to be less than the red, but significantly more than the rest of my yellow tomatoes and bicolors. So there will be no second and third places in the heavyweight competition. Only the first!
She took the first fruit on July 13, and this giant baby ripened a little later.
It is interesting that, according to varietal characteristics, the weight of a tomato is sometimes called 100-150 g, then 200-500 g. There are references to 700 BC. Apparently sensitive to agricultural technology.
A very worthy variety! Basically, my fruits are small:
Advantages of the variety in my experience
- When fully ripe on the bush scent sweet gorgeous! Fruity, you might say. And if you shoot unripe fruits, it seems that there is no aroma.
- Well-ripened Plan 9 from Open Space is delicious. Fruity notes, but still tomato :) Catching the right stage of maturity is not easy. It seems ready - but he is bland! Dessert variety.
- Even not at the best stage of ripeness, the variety is pleasant to the taste and gives a powerful fresh sensation.
- Plan 9 from Open Space indet (tall), I grew up in a greenhouse.
- In the seedling container, the bush was powerful compact, the leaves did not stick out in all directions, bent down, pressing against the stem. Only this variety had such a feature. After planting for permanent residence, the leaves straightened:
- It turned out to be medium-yielding
- Does not crack
- Handsome in cut
The disadvantage is a large number of stepchildren before the start of mass fruiting. The shape of each fruit is different, I can't even describe it. The rest is no worse than other tall varieties.
Why not everyone likes
I got an article on Zen, the author was unhappy with Plan 9. In the photo she has a small yellow pale tomato with two powerful cracks. And the taste is mediocre in this fruit, pale yellow in the cut. It's not even clear if it's bicolor. My opinion is that she has a re-grade. There is no compliance with varietal characteristics.
Another reason for dissatisfaction is trying immature. It is critical for this variety!
I will say this, a variety for lovers of exoticism and surprises.
What yellow giants do you have? Probably interesting too!
I would be grateful for your subscription and communication :)
