A unique particle accelerator will be built in Russia
The construction of a synchronous radiation source has started in Novosibirsk, which will be called the Siberian Ring Photon Source (SKIF).
So the unique particle accelerator under construction, which is being created in the scientific town called Koltsovo, will allow physicists, and also for engineers from a wide variety of scientific fields to carry out various scientific work using X-ray radiation.
As specialists emphasize, all construction will be provided exclusively by Russian specialists. In this case, the mounted apparatus is nothing more than an accelerator, inside which elementary particles are accelerated almost to the speed of light, thanks to the use of strong electromagnets.
So the production of the synchrotron should be completed by 2023, and full tests should start as early as 2024. And in total, it is planned to spend approximately 37.1 billion rubles for the entire installation.
So, according to the project documentation, SKIF will include experimental stations, and the first of them will be built before the end of 2023. A total of eight stations will have to be erected, with a couple of them belonging to the Novosibirsk Virology Center "Vector".
All scientific equipment will be produced by the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
It is pleasant to realize that such high-tech equipment and high-tech installations will be entirely produced by the efforts of Russian scientists. This means that Russia will be completely autonomous and will not depend on foreign partners. And no possible sanctions can in any way hinder the development and work of Russian scientists.
We will also look forward to the construction and introduction of SKIF and new unique discoveries.
