Bath construction - it's not easy, especially when you are doing this for the first time. And even experienced masters do not know some of the secrets that help to extend the life of the bath. Today we'll talk about a log house for a bath and a foundation. Highlights and Tricks.

Foundation

The question of saving is always relevant. There is one way to save money on the foundation. The cheapest material is sleepers. Old sleepers will cost several times less. There will be practically no smell of creosote. The tree is initially protected from decay, damage by insects. The foundation of the sleepers will last a long time (up to 50-80 years). A layer of earth is removed and gravel is covered with a layer of about 10 cm. Then comes the ramming, and the sleepers are laid on top.

A free foundation can be made from old tires. The tires are placed on the prepared place and then clogged with clay. Place the tires one on top of the other and cover with roofing felt on top. Then install wooden logs, pre-treated with biosecurity and a frame. Use OSB for cladding.

Resin in the bath

When heated, wood can give off resin.

White spirit will help to remove it from the surface of the tree. After processing, rinse the wood with warm water.

The walls of the old bath

How to update the walls inside the bath? Over time, the frame of the bathhouse changes color and loses its original attractiveness. You can sew up everything with clapboard.

But there is a less expensive way. Will help wall sanding. This will prevent wood from rotting, increase moisture resistance and eliminate minor defects. Grinding is easy with a grinder and a disc. Then treat the walls with a colorless antiseptic.

Caulking - an unusual way

The old grandfather's way is familiar to everyone. We will use a perforator and a special nozzle (shovel) for better and faster work.

We install the nozzle, turn it and fasten it as needed. We put it on the bump stop. Insulation (preferably jute) easily fits between logs or a bar. The corners are also quickly insulated with a puncher and a spatula. It is easier than pounding with a hammer and safer.

Log felling "in the paw"

The most durable connection humans have ever come up with.

The only disadvantage of this method is that in frost, the corners can freeze and over time the wood collapses. Here is the result after 20 years:

Additional boarding of corners with a board and insulation will help to extend the life of the log house.

Nog

For a log house, many use a fastener called a dowel. This is such a rod made of metal or wood, which will prevent shifts, displacement of the timber structure.

For a bath, it is better to buy a round dowel made of hardwood.
