Found something to replace OSB sheets. 2 times cheaper
In his articles, he has repeatedly raised the topic of the rapid rise in prices for building materials in 2021. Metal and sawn timber rose in price especially strongly. And most of all - OSB sheets. If in 2020 it was possible to purchase an OSB-3 sheet with a thickness of 12 mm and for 600 RUB then the current price 2400 RUB still need to look.
Understandably, many have started to switch to other building materials. And, as a result, the demand for aerated concrete has grown. For the 2021 season the price for it also increased: from 4500 rubles / m3 to 6800 rubles / m3 (in the Krasnoyarsk Territory).
It turns out that in most cases, OSB can be replaced with similar sheets, but at the pre-crisis price (600 rubles / sheet)
These are fiberboard sheets. In structure, they are similar to OSB, but the binder is not resin, but cement. In fact, it is wood concrete, only with thin long chips (wood wool). There are comparative characteristics of this material with OSB.
As you can see, according to some indicators, fiberboard bypasses OSB. It doesn't burn. Fiberboard does not release resin like OSB boards. But its main disadvantage is fragility. It is almost an order of magnitude more fragile and cannot withstand bending to fracture. And also the vapor permeability is too high.
But where vapor permeability can be eliminated using special vapor barrier films. And where the fracture strength indicator is not important (for example, the frame takes on these loads), fibrolite is quite applicable.
During production, wood fibers are impregnated with sodium silicate (water glass) for conservation. So that the resins do not destroy the concrete. As in the production of wood concrete. Material composition: wood chips (60%), cement (39.5%) and water glass (0.5%). Correctly the material is called: fiberboard Green Board.
The frame is sheathed with sheets of fiberboard with dimensions of 3000x600 mm (1.8 m2). There are also other sizes: 1200x600, 2400x600 mm. The width of the sheet is made specifically for the width of the racks of the frame house. The density is different. From 300 to 1050 kg / m3.
The cost of a sheet of 3000 × 600 × 10 mm in our city is 640 RUB In terms of 1m2, savings are more than 2 times compared to OSB sheets. By the way, they began to be produced in Russia in 2017. And they have become relevant only now.
Perhaps such a frame house from the inside can be simply plastered. Without plasterboard finishing. Outside - also plaster and paint. Or a tile façade such as Hauberg. Fast (on your own) and inexpensive. The material of the sheets is perfectly nailed.
Some manufacturers of SIP panels for frame houses have also switched to them.
Fiberboard slabs are also suitable as permanent formwork for monolithic filling of walls (with simultaneous insulation).
After the rise in price of aerated concrete, this technology is already economically justified. The cost of concrete is almost the same as in 2020. Layer-by-layer pouring can be done either manually or from a concrete pump. Communications can be laid directly within the walls. And even the wiring.
I found an example that fiberboard plates are also used for roofing as a base for shingles.
Only for reliability, boards are used for lathing not 100x25 mm, 150x25 mm. With the obligatory use of a lining carpet, it is an excellent replacement for OSB sheets and on the roof.
As for various technical buildings, verandas and woodsheds, fiberboard plates outperform boards in terms of finishing options. In addition, fiberboard boards are used in them with a thickness of 10 mm, and boards are mainly 25 mm and 50 mm. And with a difference in price for 1 m3: 35,000 rubles / m3 fiberboard and 22,000 rubles / m3 sawn timber, the former wins (on the wall) and at the price.
