Geese appeared in our village

A year ago, we moved from a provincial town to our house, which is located in a village. The history of our move from city to village lasted 5 years - that's how long we built a new house. Our family consists of three people, our son is a student. The eldest daughter and her family live separately in a neighboring town.

On the channel, we tell stories about our village life, reflect on things that are important to us.

Having left the city, we faced a considerable number of new tasks, which we solve with pleasure and we know that we are doing everything only for ourselves, and not for an apartment building!

Many people today dream of leaving the city and living closer to nature. But in order to decide on this, you need to provide yourself with conditions that are no worse and even better than in a city apartment.

Recently one of the villagers who lives at the end of our street brought in geese. Rather, he started them at the beginning of summer, but now he began to release them on his own to get to the pond. And this flock of geese slowly, slowly, eating all the grass on the side of the road and, leaving behind heaps of droppings, walks to the pond, and then back.

I do not argue that the sight is very pacifying and even gratifying for some. But not for me, because since childhood I am wildly afraid of geese. I was bitten by a goose on my bare legs only once, and this childish fear remained for the rest of my life.

I decided to study the issue of geese by talking to the owner of the goose farm, from whom our neighbor bought the geese.

Why do geese attack people

Geese are, in fact, quite aggressive birds by nature. They actively defend their territory, their offspring and ganders - their females. That is, their aggressiveness is not caused by any special malice. No, they are guided by the instinct of self-preservation, and nothing more.

But it's bad when the territorial claims of a goose and a person intersect. If the geese came with the goslings to the beach, then they are of little interest in the fact that parents with children came there too. They will attack adults, children, old people - no matter who is in front of them, if this person is close to the adored family.

How to know if a goose is about to attack

Of course, there are signs that tell people to get away with their feet, especially if they are naked!

· If the goose looks at you, then this is already a sign of danger. The direct gaze of the animal is the first stage of the attack.

· Neck stretching. This is also a sign of an imminent attack. In combination with the first, the danger is great.

· Goose nods his head up and down. This head-shaking is the last sign of escalation. Conflict is inevitable. Get ready to defend yourself, because now it will be difficult to escape.

How to escape an attack

There are several methods that often help. Unfortunately, not always, but they can be applied.

· Don't panic or show fear. Otherwise, the goose will feel like a winner, and you will feel like a victim. And he will act like an animal.

· Step back with your back, slowly, but quickly enough. Keep your eyes on the goose.

· Do not make sudden movements. Do not try to chase him away by waving your arms and shouting. You can't scare the goose. He will only be even more furious from your such aggression.

· If the goose is attacked, prepare to defend yourself, saving your face and other important body parts. Try to retreat to the side of cover, such as a gate or fence, where you can hide.

· Remember that even if the goose is attacked, it will bite, but will not kill you. Therefore, keep your emotions in check. There have been cases when people got a heart attack out of fear or started to stutter. Remember - geese are not that scary.

And it is imperative to talk to the owner of the pack so that he ensures the safety of the neighbors. There is Federal Law No. 498, article 13 of which describes all the requirements for keeping pets. This means that there is also responsibility for its violation.
