How to make a warm garden in the fall
The time has come when dacha and garden affairs have slightly decreased. No need to feed the plants, weed the beds.
Now mainly housewives are engaged in harvesting and household preparations for the winter.
The beds are practically empty. On the plots in the third decade of September, late cabbage, greens, carrots and beets remained to ripen.
After harvesting vegetables from the site, a lot of plant residues remain. They can be used profitably in the garden: make warm beds that do not need to be dug up in the spring.
The benefits of a warm garden bed
The plus is that it is not necessary to apply fertilizer for digging for the first 2-3 years on a warm garden bed. Decomposed organic matter will provide a lot of nutrients to the plants.
We can say that a warm bed is the same compost, only it no longer needs to be scattered over the site, it is located locally in a certain place and performs its functions.
Organic matter that decomposes in the soil generates heat, which is very popular with plants, especially thermophilic ones. Seedlings in warm beds are planted 2 weeks earlier than in ordinary beds.
Garden material
To create a box, you will need boards that should be pre-treated with paint or machine oil in order to last longer and not deteriorate, let dry. But you can do without boards, just digging a moat in the ground, throwing off the waste mass from different plants there.
Selection of plant residues, layer stacking features
At the bottom of the box, it is necessary to lay out solid plant residues (dry twigs from trees and shrubs, the ground part of sunflowers and corn, stems of peppers, eggplants, tomatoes).
Note! If the plants were susceptible to diseases, pests, then they need to be dried and burned.
Then you need to make a layer of rotted manure or rotted sawdust. Next, lay out the less solid plant residues. The higher the layer, the softer the structure of the residues should be. These are cut grass, fallen leaves, tops and parts of annual flower crops, vegetable waste from the kitchen.
Each layer of plant residues must be shed with green fertilizer, that is, herbal infusion, or with plain water. Next, you need to shed the mass with a solution of Fitosporin (5-6 tbsp. spoons of stock solution for 10 liters of water). The hay stick, which lives in this liquid, will perfectly cope with possible pathogens. Pour 10 liters of this solution onto 1 square meter.
To accelerate the decomposition of plant residues, use the drug "Baikal EM-1" or "Compostin". As a result, at positive temperatures, compost can be obtained in 3-4 months.
On top of all layers, you should lay out fertile soil. For the winter, you can cover the bed with straw so that the processes inside the box go faster.
Warm beds can also be made in spring. But in autumn there are a lot of plant residues, so it is more expedient to erect them in September-October.
