How to insulate wires without electrical tape.

Well, you found yourself in a field, not a soul around, and you understand that you need to repair the wiring on a moped or scooter. Moreover, there are no electrical tape and scotch tape at hand. What will you do? There is an option to find a plastic bag and instead of insulation, pack the wires in it, as they did in the USSR before, and, probably, someone is doing it now. If this solution is not suitable, then there are a couple of "progressive ways to insulate the twist without electrical tape in the field, if only the light was with you.

This trick can be done if you have any source of light at hand and some plastic dowel is lying around in the glove compartment. I show how this can be done with a gas burner, which can be easily replaced by matches or a lighter.

I take this same dowel (if it is longer, then it is even better), cut off the edges from it on both sides and thread one end of the wire into the remaining plastic tube. Then I twist it more reliably and push the dowel piece onto the twist.

This is what a semi-finished connection looks like.

It happens that it is enough and such an option as a temporary one will definitely not be electrocuted. But if you need to be more reliable, then all that remains is to heat the dowel on fire and melt it a little to get a kind of heat shrinkage. Everything! The twist is ready, you can go or do the next ...

It takes a little patience and art. First you have to find a plastic bottle cap, which is usually not difficult, and then use this cap to make insulation.

You need to melt one edge of the lid a little and mold a small spout from the melted mass with your hands.

With this spout, you need to touch the bare part of the wire at the place of the twist and, when the plastic adheres to it, perform several wrapping movements around the wire until the plastic has frozen. We immediately tear off the cork and gently level the already half-frozen plastic with our fingers, slightly pressing it into the twist.

We wind the fused plastic around the wire.

I will say that the result is quite good and often such a connection is not only mechanically reliable, but also very tight and can be temporarily used even in the rain.
