The first flight called "Awakening of the Bear" of a private Russian space company will take place in November
A relatively recently formed Russian startup called Success Rockets has released a statement in which he announced the first full flight tests of his own suborbital missile under title Nebo 25.
If everything goes according to plan, then the tests will take place in November, and this start will allow updating the national record for the highest flight among private companies.
The first private Russian company and its launch
So according to the published press release, the Nebo 25 is a single-stage solid propellant rocket. Moreover, its length is 3.5 meters, diameter is 11 centimeters, and the starting weight is 65 kg.
At the same time, the engines used are capable of developing a maximum thrust of 640 kilograms, the total operating time is 8 seconds, and the total impulse will be 50 kilonewton-seconds.
So after the rocket is launched, it must reach an altitude of 20 km and at the same time accelerate to Mach two (twice the speed of sound).
The planned flight tests of the first private Russian rocket should be an important step on the road to more ambitious goals. The first planned flight has already received a rather symbolic name "The Bear Wakes Up", which can be translated as "The bear is awakening."
For reference. Success Rockets is a young company founded by O. Mansurov only on July 30, 2020. A few months after its creation, the company's representatives were able to attract investors, and at the last St. economic forum, the head of the startup discussed with representatives of Qatar a project to form a global climate monitoring system.
In this way, representatives of the startup want to make it clear to other private companies in the world that Russia is also ready to take an active part in the development of private space.
Here, however, the emblem, as well as the chevrons for the future mission, were developed for some reason by the students of the British Higher School of Art and Design.
So the launch of the rocket according to the plan should take place from the test site in the Astrakhan region, but the tests the company's engineers carried out their solid-propellant rocket engine at the site in Kirovskaya area.
As soon as the bar of 20 km is conquered, the engineers of the company plan to "conquer" the height of 50 kilometers, and then overcome the conditional boundary of 100 km, which is called the Karman line (the conditional boundary that separates the atmosphere and space).
Engineers will achieve these goals with the help of a full-fledged meteorological rocket, on which the first stage will be based on Nebo 25.
In fact, the company's representatives have rather ambitious plans, namely the creation and production of small satellites, space satellites, space tugs, satellite constellations, as well as the provision of analysis services data.
So, according to the plan, the company representatives plan to start launching missiles with micro-satellites on board already in 2024-2025 years.
Well, let's hope this startup succeeds. Optimism is added by the fact that O. Mansurov managed to come to an agreement with Roscosmos, as well as with representatives of the Ministry of Defense.
