I chose a hammer drill, took it from the shelf, but I heard from behind: "Don't you dare take it." Why didn't I listen to this advisor, and took what I wanted?
I am always suspicious of reviews when I buy something online. And here I came across the fact that they began to advise right in the store, didn't even know how to react ...
Friends, greetings to all. Experience is such a thing that is gained only by one's own practice. Of course, you can follow the example and advice of other people, but not the fact that in your case it will work. And for almost four years of my self-construction, I was convinced of this more than once.
Especially when it comes to tools.
There are many nuances here that play a role. Background ...
Here's my hammer drill, which has served me three construction seasons and has endured a lot.
And drilling, and chiseling, and mixing of solutions (while the power is only 600 W).
And it still works, albeit a shabby look. But the brushes are already sparking strongly, and the lock of the "start" button has also jammed (now you just plug it in and it works right away 😁). And this is what influenced the decision to buy something newer and more powerful.
✅ This time I didn't choose for a long time ...
I just came to the store and decided to take what I could afford, and the functionality is right for me. The choice fell on the SDS-Plus Dexter 5, 1100 W, 3.5 J. The cost is 5800 rubles.
And as soon as I took it from the shelf, I hear from behind ...
❗❗❗ "do not try to take it."
I turn around, there is a man in work clothes (apparently he came from the nearest construction site), and tells me further ...
“The other day they bought it, worked for three hours, and it broke down immediately. They brought me to change, let's take better Bosch, to be sure. "
✅ Of course, his words immediately confused me ...But then the logic kicked in:
- You cannot draw conclusions from one example. If a tool breaks down immediately, then this is not its resource, but a marriage, which may be in well-known brands.
- Operating conditions play an important role. Of course, for professional tasks (daily work, in difficult conditions), you need a professional tool. And for me, although building a house, but in the "easy" mode, so an ordinary household tool will do just fine.
- Well, common sense is always needed. The instrument also needs to rest, and if you understand that you have a budget option in your hands, then you need to select the appropriate mode of operation.
As a result, the hammer drill is already at my construction site ...
- Three years warranty.
- Two quick-release chucks (keyless and cam).
- Two nozzles (chisel and lance).
And I have already tried it in work.
When I mounted the chimney through the wall, it was very useful for chiselling a hole for a sandwich.
So far, happy with my purchase, but there is still a lot of work ahead for this tool, so let's see ...
