I was assured: "The bathhouse will fall apart, the door will fall apart." One year later

Last year I made myself a bathhouse. He trimmed it with clapboard, and made a door to the bathhouse from scraps of lining.

I talked about this on my channel in September last year. In the comments to these publications, I was predicted that my lining would fall off, the door would twist and it would also fall apart.

Here is what they wrote about fixing the lining in the bath with the help of clamps.

The lining will eventually dry out and fall out of the glue. Checked out
After several furnaces of the bath, the clapboard will dry out and cracks will appear
Get ready to redo. It will vomit soon enough.
Claymers do not keep the clapboard checked on themselves.

And these are statements about a door made of clapboard scraps.

The frame is rather weak, the door is too big - both for a bath in general, and for such a frame in particular. A couple of the groove will open, and then the drafts will walk.
Although there should be ventilation in the steam room - maybe into the vein ...
A door without jibs will sag!

The author is not offended, but I did not even notice the slightest bracing. After you hang it on the hinges, your door will first sag and creep, and then fall apart. I have been manufacturing shop doors and bathhouse doors for 15 years already - I have some idea. What you have just demonstrated is the very bottom and even a little lower.

After such statements, it was just right to grab his head, hands to feet and run to redo everything... But what about - so many people write to me that everything is bad, everything will fall apart.

But I have been working with wood for several years, and not even for the first decade, but I built my first bath 30 years ago.

So I didn't rush to redo everything, but decided to wait and see what happens. With the same clamps, I really fixed the lining for the first time, and I need to be convinced from my own experience how everything will be.

This is what the trim and door looked like last year.

The lining was immediately treated with oil for baths and saunas. Over the course of a year, the oil either completely absorbed in some places, or dried out so that there were seemingly unpainted areas. It's time to update the coverage.

During this year, the bathhouse was heated at least once a week, and sometimes two or three times a week. The lining has dried up, this can be seen by the light stripes at the junction. At the same time, not a single plate fell out and no cracks were observed.

As for the door. It was not skewed, it remained the same size as a year ago. There were no cracks in the door. Easy to close and open.

On the door, you can see the same situation with the oil finish. It's time to reapply the oil.

What about the prophecies

It's safe to say that not a single prediction came true.

And some mysticism sometimes happens. I have met situations when, under the same conditions, tools, materials and technologies, one person succeeds reliably, while another is about to fall apart.

And last year's publications can be viewed at these links.
