Iron stove + brick chimney: many consider this to be the ideal solution. Although not so simple.

Sometimes they write to me that I too often try to "reinvent the wheel", in some building decisions, of my house. And apparently I'm not the only one... At the same time, some ideas are becoming popular, but here, too, you need to be approached wisely.

Friends, hello everyone. Disputes about what kind of stove to put in the house (and whether to put it at all) will never end. And all because everyone has their own goals and objectives.

Iron furnace - heats up the room quickly, but cools down just as quickly (more suitable for occasional use).
Brick, it will not warm up for a long time, but then it will take a long time and give off the accumulated heat (it can also be the main heating, with permanent residence).

☝️ At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the complexity of installation, both of the furnace itself and of the selected chimney (with an iron stove, everything is clearly simpler).

And of course everyone has a dream ...

So that a universal option appears that will satisfy the needs of every person. And there seems to be one.

Iron stove, with brick chimney.

Here there is a quick warm-up from an iron stove, and a heat accumulator, in the form of a multi-channel chimney. What could be better?

But there are some nuances.

When using such a design, you will not be able to save money. And many can try. And there are examples when a long-burning stove is mounted to a brick chimney (they are simply cheaper). And this is fundamentally wrong.

  • I installed such a long-burning furnace in my house under construction.
  • And I put a stainless steel chimney for it.

If you do it "tricky", put a brick chimney, then the long-term burning mode simply cannot be used, since the brickwork will collapse very quickly from condensation.

It turns out that you need to heat it on a constant, high heat. And in this case, the furnace itself will burn out very quickly (the metal in long-burning furnaces is thin).

Therefore, the best option would be with a cast iron stove.

It will not burn out here, and it also additionally keeps heat. But the price is very different ...

And what is the result?

  • They spent a lot of money on everything (both the oven itself and the brickwork are decent).
  • At the same time, the mass of the structure and dimensions are decent (a multi-channel chimney is worth a lot).
  • And we get only one plus - this is a quick warm-up of the room, which, in my opinion, is not so significant.

It is better to fold an ordinary brick oven and not bother ...

Friends, what do you think on this issue? Write your opinion in the comments and share your experience, it's always useful.

And I'll go and light my stove ...
