China tests the world's most powerful solid-propellant rocket engine
Representatives of the China Corporation of Space Science and Technology (CASC) said that a monolithic solid-propellant rocket engine with the highest thrust in the world was successfully tested in the Celestial Empire. So the installation, which has a diameter of 3.5 meters and in the design of which the most advanced technologies were applied, provided a thrust of 500 tons.
As highlighted by the representatives of the Chinese corporation, the successful tests clearly indicate the significant progress of the Chinese engineers. in work on solid-propellant rocket engines, which is extremely important for the subsequent design of heavy and superheavy launch vehicles class.
So at the moment, CASC engineers are also actively working in the development of a five-section rocket engine with a diameter of 3.5 meters, but at the same time its peak thrust should already be more than 1 000 tons.
Why does China need it
The Celestial Empire is so actively developing the production and development of its own engines for a reason. The Chinese specialists have been set an ambitious task for the early exploration of both nearby space and distant space.
So, as part of the implementation of this plan, a national orbital station is already in low-earth orbit. In the near future, it is planned to carry out a manned flight to the moon, and after that it will also send a manned mission to Mars, and in the future to other space objects in our Solar system.
It is for these purposes that such powerful engines are needed, which will make it possible to put as much payload into orbit as possible and, thus, reduce the cost of their delivery into space.
Well, we will observe the further progress of the tests of Chinese super-powerful engines and the increasingly developing race for outer space. Who do you think will be the first to be on Mars: the Americans with their SpaceX, or the Chinese with their own national program? Write your versions in the comments.
