"We sang the red summer - they didn't have time to look back ..." - in our context, these lines can be dedicated to mice, which with the onset of cold weather and "hunger" rush into human dwellings, so that there you can find food and shelter. If your home is not protected from rodents, wait for guests. Many guests! Whole families will come and add more offspring! By the way, the cat is not a reliable "cordon" against such an invasion - it will not overfill everyone. Here we need funds that rodents cannot tolerate at the cellular level. They will be discussed.
What do mice run from like the devil from incense
Let's start our list with the most affordable materials and substances that can be bought in every store or, in general, found in a barn without spending extra money. So the list:
- Burned rubber. Rodents simply do not tolerate its persistent and pungent smell: upon smelling it, they panic and try to quickly move away from the epicenter of the terrible stench. Everything is done very simply: in an old bucket, you need to set fire to and after a short burning time extinguish several small fragments of rubber - pieces of a tire, a camera, an old galosh or boot. When these chunks have cooled, they should be laid out in the rodent habitat. The method works for 3-5 months.
- Singed wool or fluff. This smell also effectively repels anything and everything gnawing pests. It is necessary to set fire and extinguish a woolen sock, a piece of an old felt boot, bird fluff or feathers. The burnt fragments must also be spread out in the places of deployment of intruders. You can generally completely burn old woolen socks or feathers, collect the ashes, mix it with dry putty and sprinkle this mixture on the mouse paths. After that, they are guaranteed to leave.
- Birch tar. An effective remedy for rodents. Rags are impregnated with it and scattered where petty robbers are disturbed: in basements, in the attic, in sheds and other utility rooms.
- Turpentine. This liquid is poured into containers and placed on mouse paths. And you can also mix turpentine with kerosene and spray the mixture in the basement, in the attic, in the shed.
- Vinegar. Usually it is just spilled in the attic and basement. The method is old and very effective - in 1-3 days after such treatment, not a single mouse will remain in the house. A room with an area of 80 square meters requires approximately 3 liters of vinegar.
How to keep mice out of insulation
Mineral wool and Styrofoam are excellent housing for mice. And even if protective nets are installed during the construction of a house, rodents will still get there over time. It happens differently for everyone. For example, at one of our subscribers, mice hit the house through the doors that were open in the summer, and then, bypassing all these protective nets, settled in the walls, from where they give night concerts, rustling with insulation. But you can fight this.
The right way is naphthalene. This agent is toxic to mice. Some private developers, even at the construction stage, turn it into powder, and during installation sprinkle it with mineral wool, scatter the walls in a cake. Even having penetrated the wall, rodents will not settle in the insulation due to the fact that it is treated with a substance harmful to them. And also naphthalene is perfect for expelling rodents from basements, sheds and attics. It must also be ground into powder, mixed with sawdust and scattered in the habitat of mice.
