There is no theft in the gardens
It has been more than 30 years since we got a plot in the village. At first it was a dacha for parents who lived there only in the summer. Then we bought a plot nearby and started building our own house. Two seasons have passed since I have been developing a new land plot. I am laying a new vegetable garden and orchard.
And so, recently I saw a funny quote from some S. Yankovsky - I don't know who he is. But the words made me smile: “The life of a summer resident is a constant struggle with other people's children, who consider his favorite garden to be their own, and their children, who consider this fucking garden to be a stranger..»
Honestly, it dawned on me! But for five years now, in general, no one encroaches on our vegetable garden and garden. Neither children nor adults.
I remember that when my parents were alive, there was no end to the thieves. Especially in the early 90s of the last century, they took turns on duty at the dacha with neighbors. Thieves simply committed atrocities - they dug up potatoes, broke trees, picking apples and pears, devastated greenhouses and strawberry beds, cut down cabbage and pulled out root crops. More than once they broke down doors and windows, carrying out all the metal indiscriminately. They cut off the electrical cable that went to the bathhouse from the house, leaving us without lighting.
About five years ago, they dug up apple trees that had just been planted, and after returning from the store an hour later, they saw an empty space. They were not even dug out, but pulled out of the fresh planting holes. Just hands dropped.
More than once, caught at the scene of a crime while collecting our cherries, irgi, or rose hips, thieves brazenly began to "download rights". They said that we still do not harvest, so they came to harvest the harvest so that it would not be lost.
Then the theft began to subside. The fact is that our neighbors are simply gone. On both sides, abandoned areas. We are the ones who work in our parents' orchard. And the neighbors' children "consider the fucking garden a stranger." But on their site there are all fruit trees, shrubs. Even strawberries grow in the grass. Therefore, anyone can enter an apparently abandoned site and harvest without problems. And such - half of the village.
But not far from the village there are also abandoned collective gardens. I remember in the late 80s, early 90s, life was in full swing there. Beautiful houses, well-groomed areas, flower beds, a real oasis. Then the thieves cut the wires, there was no electricity. Soon there was no more water and people began to throw this place. But there are varietal trees, berry fields. And all this is now overgrown with grass. The hogweed, of course, was overwhelmed. But it bears fruit and how!
Therefore, everyone who wants to get delicious fruits for free graze there. They are taken out in bags. I saw more than once how loaded people come out of there, obviously not the owners of the plots, drunk and homeless.
Therefore, although we do not rule out theft, for several years now we have not noticed it in our garden. Though the times have come that it may come back again, judging by the prices in the stores for vegetables. People simply do not have the money to buy food, and many have already lost the habit and have forgotten how to grow it. How, in fact, and work. I'm talking, of course, about a separate part of society, known to everyone.
