A friend lives in China and says that all the things that we keep for memory cause illness
The topic of today's conversation is so important to me that I just can't help but discuss it and get a few opinions on this matter.
Visit of a resident of China
A woman who had previously worked in this team came to our work, even before I came there. They say that she is a very advanced and talented person who, independently, as well as with the help of courses, studied Chinese and went to work in the Celestial Empire, where she has been living for 5 years. And so, I came on vacation to visit my relatives. I also went to see my former colleagues.
I like people who know how to tell interesting stories, with a sense of humor and entertaining details. This woman turned out to be just that, I began to listen to her stories with pleasure, although I sat on the sidelines, because we did not know each other before.
But soon I caught myself thinking that my feeling of dislike for the narrator was growing more and more. I decided to think why. She began to listen more attentively and realized that she was speaking as if she was broadcasting the ultimate truth. If she was asked questions, she answered condescendingly, like children or dull fools. Soon I saw that other people began to have displeased grimaces instead of pleasure on their faces. However, the woman began to get ready and soon left, picked up from both sides by her bosom friends.
Overall, I liked her stories about life in China, which is very different from ours. I've read about many things before, but living testimonies are much more instructive.
Throw out memory
But one thing struck me in the very heart. The newly minted Chinese woman said that the Russian tradition is to keep things that cause some memories: old letters, children's crafts and drawings - means taking away your health and reducing days of life. Like, this stuff takes energy from us and leads to disease.
In China, there is a tradition of family gathering and dismantling wardrobes and closets. At the same time, all such things and old clothes are ruthlessly thrown away. Leave some photos and new items.
It is believed that memories can only evoke regret and shame for bad deeds committed. In turn, these feelings decrease self-esteem and increase anxiety. As a result, psychological trauma develops, which lead to illness and even death.
And old things that no one wears, especially, can litter wardrobes and prevent people from developing and moving on.
The woman repeated the formula several times - there should be no sinks, damaged dishes and old clothes in the house.
I can't throw it away
In connection with the move, I also dismantled cabinets in which, just like that, a lot of unnecessary things are stored. These are children's drawings, and crafts, and school notebooks. The part that does not bear any memories, for example, just scribbles on a piece of paper with the inscription "Sasha is 2 years old", I also threw out. It's too much. But many crafts are so good that one does not raise a hand to throw them out.
And I also have letters that my dad and mom wrote to me. I actually cried reading them. As if she had heard the voice of her relatives. But throw them out? Never. These are such cleansing tears that I, on the contrary, seemed to have gained new strength from these lines.
I believe that it all depends on how a person himself perceives such things. If they have a beneficial effect, then you need to keep them sacred. But if they are associated with something shameful, or simply unpleasant, then you do not need to store it, in this I agree with the Chinese.
I would like to know your opinion on this matter.
