How to make a comfortable ax handle with their hands

Someone may say that it is easier to buy an ax and of course he will be right. But when done by hand is a totally different...

At first I wanted to make an ax handle in accordance with GOST. Even I found on the Internet a couple of references to the form ax and ax what size they fit. Here are the links: first- ax, second -type ax.

I looked at the size, compared with its blanks... not obtained in accordance with GOST. Then I decided to do as I'm comfortable.

Previously, I have been cases that when driving a wedge ax handle was cracked slightly, so before making a propyl wedge I drilled a hole in the place where it will be the edge of the wedge.

And then I did propyl through this hole, prepared and planted wedges axes.
