"Anchor plates are the worst fasteners for a window." So say those who do not know how to install them. One nuance that decides everything.

When I was just planning the installation of windows in my house under construction, then of course I studied a lot of information, and examples of how to do this work (after all, there was no knowledge or experience). I did not see any particular difficulties, but, as always, I was strained by a certain uncertainty.

Disagreements related to the ways of fastening windows in the opening. There are two camps here:

✔ Supporters of anchor mounting.

✔ And those who use anchor plates. I joined the latter.

• Ease of work (no need to drill through the frame, as when installing on an anchor).
• There are no unnecessary holes in the window profile. And this is a plus for the durability of the structure.
• It is not necessary to remove the double-glazed windows from the frames.
• Sufficient reliability.

When I did the work, even without foam, on the same plates, the windows were very rigid.

And after two years everything is fine, the windows are standing and do not fall out.

But there are those who complain precisely about the poor strength of the anchor plates.

And here I see only one explanation.

• When installing the plates, one must not forget about a simple and obvious rule.

✅ The bending angle of the anchor plate must not exceed 45 °

Only in this case will its rigidity be maintained, and it will be able to perceive the loads applied to the window.

• And if you imagine another option.

If the plate is bent 90 °, then it cannot take any load, and will bend at the slightest impact.

Therefore, the smaller the gap between the frame and the opening (but not less than 20 mm), the more straight the anchor plates will be. And in this case, you are provided with reliable fasteners. Even when assembling with your own hands and without experience.
