Panasonic specialists created hydrogen 5-kW electric generators with record efficiency
Panasonic representatives announced the start of serial production of 5-kW hydrogen-fueled generators. According to experts, their installation has the highest electrical efficiency in the industry, equal to 56%.
And if the generator also heats the water (for the heating system), then the efficiency increases to 95%. At the same time, the developed generators are able to be connected in a bundle of 10 units and act as a single 50 kW module controlled through a computer network. It is about this installation that will be discussed today.
Why you need hydrogen generators
The so-called "green energy" is gaining momentum in the world, and in this light hydrogen is considered as the most suitable environmentally friendly fuel.
Therefore, hydrogen engines are being actively developed, inside of which, during a chemical reaction in a fuel cell, pure hydrogen reacts with oxygen (coming from the atmosphere), as a result of which energy is released (the body and electricity are produced), and the usual water.
For the entire process to be considered "green", hydrogen must be produced using energy generated by solar panels, wind generators, tidal stations, etc., but even hydrogen produced by electricity from gas stations can be attributed to "Clean".
Panasonic has demonstrated a competitive installation more than 10 years ago Ene-Farm, but then the power of the installation was limited to 700 W, and for work it was required to supply natural gas.
The new H2 KIBOU generator already runs on pure hydrogen and delivers 5 kW of power at its peak.
To ensure maximum power, the generator burns 51.6 liters of uncompressed hydrogen in 60 seconds. At the same time, it takes only one minute to start the generator, followed by reaching the rated power in seven minutes. This means that the generators are quite capable of being used as an emergency power source.
In order for the generator to successfully deliver the maximum possible power, it needs to provide heating of 155 W, and under normal conditions, 578 W in frost). But the generators are capable of operating without additional heating, although in this case their power almost halves.
In addition, the generator is capable of operating in standalone mode for up to 120 hours. The company's engineers continue to work on improving the technology, but already in this form, the generator is able to actively operate in different conditions.
Panasonic is confident that its generators will be in demand directly in Japan, where various kinds of cataclysms are not uncommon, and therefore a backup source of heat and electricity is definitely not will be superfluous.
