We installed good ones for ourselves in the spring, like German windows. They were happy. In spring and summer, they stood perfectly, and their quality was not in doubt. This was the case before the onset of cold weather and the appearance of cool winds. In the fall, I began to feel that it was cold from the side of the windows.

New plastic windows " siphoned" in the hinge area. Was able to quickly and cheaply solve the problem

The slopes are straight, the window sill is perfectly flat, it looks good! What is the problem? - could not understand in any way. I ran my hand over the window frame, it was obvious that it was showing through in the area of the hinges.

Well! There is a problem, there is a guarantee from a local supplier of German windows. I contacted the company with a claim. We responded promptly. The master arrived the very next day. A young guy, it is clear that he is literate. Examined everything. But he did not reveal the problem. The only thing I could offer was to switch the window to winter mode. Did you know what to do this way? It didn't help me. But suddenly it will be useful to you!

How to switch the window to "winter mode"?

The window has special eccentrics, which can be adjusted to increase and decrease the degree of tightness of the windows. That is, in summer mode, you can leave a thin gap for micro-ventilation. And in winter mode, the window will be closed as tightly as possible.

In order to change the mode, you need to twist the eccentric at the end of the window using a hexagon, a screwdriver or pliers.

In my case, this was not enough. I switched the window to "winter mode". Thanks to the master, prompted. But, nevertheless, cold air continued to hover in the area of the window hinges. The reason was not in the window mode, but in the quality of the assembly of this window. German windows, which were produced in our country, did not retain the declared German quality.

After adjusting the window, the room became warmer. The hinges did not siphon so much. You could start a dispute with suppliers and demand the replacement of windows. But I really didn't want to do these things. It seems that the problem is not too big. In principle, everything could be left as it is. But these see-through loops did not leave my head. Still, I wanted to resolve the issue) I'm building houses. Can't I handle the windows ?!

I did it all the same!

How did I solve the problem with through windows?

Before replacing windows, I bought rubber bands for old windows. It was she who helped me. I shredded it into small pieces - 5-10 cm each. And he began to stick it in various places in the area of contact between the window profile and the hinges. There was a draft where it seemed to me. Several unsuccessful attempts, and as a result, the "siphoning" place was found. I pasted the sealing gum and left it there.

Bottom line: cheaply, simply and on my own I coped with drafts from the windows using a sealing rubber. And the main thing is that the window can be opened for ventilation. It will not be sealed but will function normally. And when a piece of elastic is worn out, I will glue a new one in a second)
