On New Year's Eve, it is customary for us to devote a lot of time and energy to dishes, choosing and preparing something tasty, special or even status (like black caviar, jamon, cheeses, sparkling wine, etc.). At the same time forgetting about the decor of the place where all these dishes will be located. But this is wrong!

Good afternoon dear friends!

Festive table setting requires no less attention than preparing and serving dishes! This is the only way you can get a finished New Year's composition, which will be remembered for a long time to your relatives and friends. And so in order to leave an indelible impression of the New Year 2022, I suggest you move away from the "usual decor" of the New Year's table and decorate it in a modern Scandinavian style.

Why Scandi? It's simple - it's easy, beautiful and effective! And in order to prove this fact to you, as well as help with table setting in the Scandinavian style, and I prepared this material.

1.General strokes.

Scandinavian style is easy to implement. For example, it allows you to ditch your usual tablecloth and place your plates directly on the table, displaying its patterns and texture. It is enough to put spruce or fir paws, cones, cookies and nuts in the center. And at the end, complement the composition with white or black candles. That, in fact, is all!

The undoubted "plus" of all this decor is that its components can be found in an ordinary grocery and hardware store, and natural elements - in the nearest park.

2.Festive tableware. Plates, mugs, salad bowls, etc. cutlery should be simple, laconic shapes, without any curls and patterns. And they are made in a restrained color palette. Cookware in black, white or gray, as well as all shades of natural ceramics, is well suited. All this will be interesting to contrast with the table surface, decor and the general festive atmosphere.

And so that the cutlery does not look completely restrained, they can be decorated with spruce or rosemary branches tied with a plain ribbon or twine. However, you can use other laconic decor as well.

3.Name badge. Place names are very convenient for both hosts and guests of the house. Especially when it is supposed to invite colleagues from work, relatives who do not know each other, etc. You can make them from cones and pieces of cardboard. To do this, the cone is left in its natural original form or painted with black paint. And then a figure is cut out of white cardboard, the name of the guest is written on it in black pencil and attached to the cone.

If the surface of your table is light, then you can do it differently: use black cardboard and a white pencil. This will make the badge look very impressive and unusual.

4.A symbolic gift. A small present for each guest will become a pleasant surprise and memorable feature of your home. That it will not matter at all (lottery ticket, gift card, hand-drawn drawing ...), the main thing is attention! So, to do this, take a gift and wrap it in black or white paper, on which then draw a Christmas tree, stars or snowflakes with a gold or silver pencil. At the end, tie the gift with jute rope or twine. Everything!

By the way, a great solution would be to use craft paper. For it can be additionally decorated with drawings, spruce branches or buttons. This decor also matches the Scandinavian style.

5.Ambient decor. Of course, besides the table, there are other surfaces that require your attention: furniture, structural elements, free corners, etc.! At the same time, do not forget that the decor should be in the northern style. To do this, I suggest using various glass containers, vases and jars. You can fill them with white sand, coarse salt or artificial snow. And then inside, place figurines of animals, houses, toy cars, while not forgetting about the natural stroke in the form of a spruce twig.

Now it remains to arrange the decor made with your own hands around the apartment, so that it becomes an excellent addition and helps you to finally feel the atmosphere of the holiday.

6.Window decoration and more. Yes, I almost forgot about such "things" as walls, windows or doors - they are also worth decorating! For example, using a Scandinavian wreath. Make it easy and simple! Take a hoop (or other wooden hoop), pine branches, matte black Christmas balls, and small wooden figurines, and then wire them together. That's it, the wreath is ready!

But keep in mind that there must be an odd number of balls and shapes. This is where Scandinavian traditions intersect with ours.
