My chimney against the first snow melt, on the roof. Why did the "terrible predictions" not come true? There are specific reasons.
I don’t like to say: "Well, I told you that everything will be fine." But in fact it is so. Only I did not hope for a lucky break, but simply assessed the situation sensibly ...
Friends, everyone is a huge hello. This year, winter in our region came somehow rapidly: frost and a lot of snow at once (usually, everything will melt ten times first, and then settle down).
At the same time, my stove is in full operation, which this year helps me to work comfortably in the house.
About all its nuances of installation and operation, I have already written several articles(on my channel you will find everything). In the comments to these articles, there was a lot of controversy about the efficiency of the stove itself, the correct installation of the chimney, and everything related to this. And in practice, some opinions were confirmed, but something remained a myth.
But until recently, there was one open question.
Will it blow my chimney when the snow melts, or not?
It was this nuance that many of my readers paid attention to.
And to be honest, I was also embarrassed by the location of the chimney, just under the slope of the roof (but here the priority was the location of the stove in the house, and this was the starting point).
At the same time, there are no snow holders, and some other protective ones that keep the chimney intact.
But nevertheless, I did not do the installation at random, but took into account the nuances of my roof.
- Relatively small size. The length of the slope is 6 meters.
- Covering - metal tiles. This means that a lot of snow does not linger on it.
- At the angle of the roof, it is quite sharp.
✅ In addition to everything, at the intersection of the roof with the chimney, I made additional fastening. While not super sturdy, it is quite reliable under the given conditions.
The bottom line is obvious.
The first thaw and the entire snow cover slid down. At the same time, everything is in order with the chimney, no dents, much less serious damage.
Although the mass of snow has melted a lot.
Once again, I come to the conclusion that each construction site, each house is an individuality, and solutions should not be selected according to a template. And special snow retention and snow protection devices, it is on my roof, these are unnecessary troubles.
