Why DYSON is primarily a technology, not an expensive product

Most of us Dyson is associated primarily with expensive equipment, and this is partly true. Why only partially? The fact is that the main value of the company is technology and the desire to create the most reliable and high-quality product. Don't believe me? Now I will try to explain.

The beginning of the Dyson story

Why DYSON is primarily a technology, not an expensive product

To understand the whole point, you need to start from afar. So, the Dyson company got the name of its creator James Dyson. He is a very talented engineer who began his career as an inventor by creating a garden wheelbarrow that used a ball instead of a wheel.

But this innovation was not the starting point in the creation of a world famous brand. It all started in 1979, when a young engineer was deeply disappointed with his home vacuum cleaner. The dust bag quickly clogged, and I had to suffer more with it than to clean up the house in order. It was then that James Dyson came up with the idea to create a vacuum cleaner that would have no flaws.

First developments

Cyclone technology was taken as a basis, and a long process of experiments began. The developer was very persistent - he created more than 5 thousand unsuccessful options before the first working prototype was received.

But, as it turned out, creating a really high-quality vacuum cleaner was not enough - it still needs to be sold. And here obvious difficulties arose. The thing is that most companies made serious money selling so-called consumables (the same new dust bags) and spare parts for products. And no one wanted to produce a unit that, according to the developer, was practically eternal.

However, in Japan, Apex Inc. was found, which agreed to release the first bagless vacuum cleaner for collecting dust, called the G-Force. It happened in 1986. The model quickly gained trust almost all over the world.

With the money James Dyson received from the sale of the vacuum cleaner, Dyson was formed. A long and, admittedly, quite successful work of like-minded people began.

Thanks to the diligence of engineers, after another series of experiments, the first Dyson vacuum cleaner - DC01, appeared, working on the Dual Cyclone technology (double cyclone). The company was so confident in the invention and its quality that it didn't even plan to produce any parts. Moreover, she began to give a guarantee for her inventions. And the thing is that the engineers did not work at speed - they worked on the nodes exactly as long as was needed to create the most reliable and high-quality product.

Dyson is not just vacuum cleaners

It may appear that the company Dyson produces only vacuum cleaners, but this is not the case. The company employs highly qualified specialists who work on a variety of devices. They created lamps, air purifiers, hair dryers, electric hand dryers, and even an electric car. True, the project to create an electric car, financed personally by the head of the company, was closed - it turned out to be very expensive, and no one would buy it at that price.

In each product, engineers apply their own innovative developments

Dyson is the latest in-house developments

For example, a proprietary digital engine is an engineering marvel. The miniature motor accelerates to 125,000 rpm using a ceramic rotor and neodymium magnets. A specially shaped impeller creates an air flow that is enough to complete any task, while simultaneously cooling the engine itself and preventing it from overheating.

In addition, the company's engineers have created so-called bladeless fans, as well as air purifiers (in modern realities, very relevant things). Such installations can be easily left at home unattended - neither children nor animals will be in danger.

"Designed to Last"

This is exactly what one of the main slogans of the company sounds like. Most of today's products are inherently disposable and therefore cheap. Dyson products are fundamentally constructed from high quality, durable materials.

For example, the transparent container of a vacuum cleaner is made of polycarbonate. This material is used to create police shields.

Engineers constantly monitor all new products and try to be among the first to introduce everything new into their products. For example, they are now racking their brains about how to use nanotubes, graphene and bioplastics more efficiently.

When the product is ready, the fun begins - testing. The vacuum cleaner is deliberately dropped more than 5,000 times, forced to cover a distance of 1357 km on a rotating platform, etc. A total of 120 engineers conduct approximately 550 tests over 50,000 hours.

Only the highest quality products pass such stringent tests. And their high price is no longer so surprising. After all, unfortunately, there is no high quality for little money, and you always have to choose: buy cheap, but not quite high-quality, or expensive, but reliable. The most important thing is that you and I have this choice.

This is how he is, Dyson, - high-tech, durable and only then expensive. Thank you for your attention!
