An interesting paradox: the more we try to keep warm, the colder it gets in the house. How can this situation arise?

In fact, this contradiction is quite logical for itself, despite its absurdity. It is enough to recall a little the simple laws of physics ...

Friends, I am glad to welcome you. New Year's Eve is coming, it's frosty outside, and my house under construction is a perfect example to explain the rather frequent situation people face when trying to warm up in their home.

An interesting paradox: the more we try to keep warm, the colder it gets in the house. How can this situation arise?

A fairly common case:

We built our long-awaited house (saved up for a long time, got more credits), and drove there with the whole family. At the same time, there is still repair, and a lot of purchases for a new interior, so there is not very much free money. And here, as for evil, winter. And there is no gas in the house (it has not yet been brought down, or it is not planned at all), you need to bask on electricity.

Therefore, the process of saving heat begins. We enter the house very quickly, we do not release the cold, and we often do not open the windows, only before going to bed, for five minutes. The main task is to keep all the warm air inside the house.

But at the same time, the unpredictable begins to happen ...

The state of health worsens, mold in the corners may even appear. And most importantly, the same strange problem arises:

The more we close the windows, the colder it gets in the house.

The same atmosphere is now in my house under construction. And only recently, I realized that this approach of keeping warm is fundamentally wrong. And the explanation is very simple.

Humidity is the main problem that many people simply do not notice.

✔ Cold is felt more strongly in humid climates. It is enough to compare different regions of our vast country.

In wet St. Petersburg, we are afraid to go outside at -30 ° С, but, for example, in Norilsk people feel normal at -50 ° С. And it's all about the humidity of the air.

So in your house, the same physical processes take place. And the more we bottle up and try to keep warm (without letting out warm air), the more humidity, and the colder the atmosphere in the house feels.

✔ Moisture degrades the thermal insulation of the walls. As we do not go for a walk in a wet down jacket, so we need to keep the walls of our house dry.

And if we lock all the air inside, then where else can it go, if not through the walls. Along the way, leaving in them part of their excess moisture. Thus, even well-insulated housing can be spoiled.

So, although I protected the mineral wool with a vapor barrier, so far the bare aerated concrete walls perfectly absorb moisture.

Ventilation is a simple solution that many do not think about.

Of course, it is difficult to come to the conclusion that in order for it to become warmer, the house must first be cooled. But without getting rid of moisture, nowhere ...

Until recently, I myself thought that simple ventilation in the house would be enough. But there are options that are more modern, technologically advanced, and more useful. Thus, I came to a ventilation system with a heat recovery function. Thus, we will retain at least some of the precious heat.

And of course, I will do all this with my own hands.
