No fence, no money: how pseudo-builders "throw" pensioners
Recently, everyone has heard of telephone scammers posing as bank employees. They, of course, are active, but offline swindlers have not gone anywhere either. They also, under any pretext, pull money out of the pockets of gullible citizens. About what method of divorce was invented by the scammers - read on.
The case from Voronezh
One Voronezh pensioner decided to renew the fence at his dacha. Grandfather, and he is 84 years old, saved up a certain amount and began to look for an artist. On the way home, at the bus stop, he read the following announcement: "We will install any turnkey fence - inexpensively."
"Well, inexpensive so inexpensive!" - thought Vasily Fedorovich and called the specified phone number. On the same day, a team of three people arrived at his site. They examined the old fence, measured the scope of work in steps and told their grandfather that they would start working immediately if they agreed on a price.
The pensioner asked the cost of the services and the "foreman" gave him an oral bill - 60 thousand. rubles. This amount included the following actions: dismantling the old fence, purchasing materials and erecting a new fence. The grandfather agreed to such an estimate.
How does the divorce scheme work
While the two were dismantling the old fence, one of the intruders called somewhere and negotiated the purchase of materials. According to the pensioner, the "builders" worked very briskly and he was not even alarmed that they had neither a crowbar nor a shovel with them - they asked the owner of the dacha for all this. In general, vigilance was put to sleep with shock work.
When the old fence was dismantled, the main "trio" approached his grandfather and said that the building materials would now be brought up and the money should be returned immediately. Impressed by the speed of the contractors, the pensioner gave the money and, as you might guess, was left without them. The scammers retreated at a convenient moment.
These cases are not isolated and it is not known how to deal with them. Elderly people often fall for such tricks. Some, especially advanced scammers, make large-scale business out of this. They gather teams, teach them how to extort money from a person under the guise of some urgent work, and thus spill whole areas.
For example, not long ago SOBR carried out the seizure of the office of pseudo-electricians, who took 15 thousand from pensioners to replace a circuit breaker worth 500 rubles! The plan of this company, which employed more than 10 people, was 4 million 300 thousand rubles a month. This is exactly how much the impudent electricians should have earned in December.
