My choice of flooring: laminate against the linoleum
Both of these floor coverings are budgetary embodiment, are in the same price range.
My choice fell on the laminate. Initially, the apartment lay linoleum from the builder.
Now I tell, what advantages and disadvantages, I outlined for myself, maybe someone this information would be useful.
Let's start with the advantages of laminate to the linoleum:
- Appearance for me is a clear advantage. Laminate, even inexpensive, has a relief, not only visually resembles a tree, but even to touch a recess.
- This item is not an advantage over laminate and linoleum disadvantage n still believe that he should be here. Personally in my case rooms size is very large (more than 4 meters wide and 5 meters length), linoleum will in this case with a joint, the coating aesthetics already somewhat broken. - Heat the floor. Due to the fact that the laminate is placed on the substrate, and the board itself is thick enough, the floor becomes warmer. It's hard to talk about this advantage when you live high, but when you live on the ground floor and a basement, and you just walk on the floor of the wind, then the difference is very noticeable.
- wasteless production. In the case of linoleum, anyway, remain trim, which then have nowhere to adapt. Linoleum is sold in standard sizes. With laminates calculate the amount of a lot easier, but still it has the great advantage that it is possible to buy the piece, even If not enough (not available in all stores, but this practice is), and in some stores even take back the extra board.
- My personal opinion is that the laminate is less slippery. Checked was on his own child, he learned to walk.
- Laminate is not pressed as linoleum, it does not remain dents on the legs. And if you move on laminate furniture, of course, you can scratch it, if you make it messy, but break certainly fail.
- Price. The price of laminate even wins and is cheaper.
Now I talk about the shortcomings of the laminate, which I have identified for themselves:
- The installation takes much more time and require the presence of the tool, with linoleum here is much easier.
- Water laminate swells
About swelling laminate, I was advised to all the joints between the boards laminate fluff sealant, saying it will protect against moisture, prevents bloating, thus prolong the life of the laminate.
The logic of this method was also quite reasonable, so it was decided to lubricate the joints with sealant laminate, the kitchen and the hallway, where there is a lot of water.
Personally I did not find any advantages of this method, but the drawbacks enough. I'll tell you a little about them:
- Excess sealant, and they like it or not there remain on the laminate, wash them turned out to be quite difficult, even with special tools.
- Installation time of the laminate is increased at least twice.
- As it turned out, over time, I began to swell laminate just from the sealant.
The advantages of the laminate is much more, but with the sealant mistakes were made.
