Light on the street as protection from uninvited guests. I never understood, but recently I did it myself (but for other reasons).
When you leave the house, do you turn off all the lights? I'm sure yes... And for me, it was the same if I leave the site. Well, what's the point of leaving a light on the street there? But somehow the views changed.
Friends, I am glad to welcome you. If for most people lit streets on the way to their home is the norm, then in my SNT, there is no such luxury. And if we take into account that on a constant basis, few houses live in our country (literally you can count on your fingers), then in the dark, it becomes gloomy ...
On the one hand, it's good, no one is there just like that, a stranger will not run around. On the other hand, on the contrary: darkness, the best time for thieves' trade. And the neighbors had some unpleasant incidents.
But their solution to the problem is interesting.
Here's to one person (appears on visits) climbed into the shed, and took out something, so after that, he made constant night illumination of the entire courtyard.
- Maybe it works. After all, light is such a designation of presence (they say the owners are in place), while the thief is, as it were, in plain sight. I don't see any other logic.
- But at the same time, everyone has solid two-meter fences (the neighbors will not see the thief), and on the other hand, the villains do not need a flashlight.
And the further, the more neighbors illuminate the courtyards in this way.
So I succumbed to the crowd effect ...
And now the light is on in my yard all the dark hours of the day, all the time.
❗ But I, in addition to the above, had another reason ...
It's just comfortable to drive up to the house and leave. It sounds somehow mundane and maybe stupid, but for all the time of my self-construction, this discomfort was worn in order:
Imagine: 12 o'clock at night, you leave the house, close everything, and turn off the light around. It's just pitch darkness, you somehow turn on the flashlight on your phone, and make your way to the car. At the same time, across the road there is a continuous forest, and all around the unknown.
Perhaps this is just my problem, and most are ready to walk in the taiga at night, but I am at least uncomfortable.
Plus, it costs almost nothing.
It used to seem like a waste of money, but if you count ...
