I was puzzled by the choice of a Turkish (cezve) for coffee - I studied the issue in detail and made a choice
Not so long ago I went to a store to buy a Turkish coffee. It is sometimes called cezve, so I will use both names. I didn't have any special requirements, I just wanted it to be durable, high quality, medium size and not very expensive. To be honest, I didn’t even think that the choice would baffle me so much.
In the store, I realized that they differ in material. And there was a real variation in prices. I asked a consultant to give me a little consultation about coffee Turks and their differences.
Granite cezve
It turned out that granite Turks for coffee began to be produced relatively recently. For the price - they are completely different, from 250 to 1500 rubles. It all depends on the brand and the volume of the cezve. For example, a 250 ml granite turk can be purchased for 300 rubles. In a Turk of this size, 3 coffee cups can be prepared at the same time.
From the pros - a beautiful, "solid" appearance. The taste of coffee, according to the consultant, is good, "even". It is difficult to "run away" in such a Turkish coffee.
The disadvantage is fragility when dropped sharply. The integrity of the border turk cannot be guaranteed if it falls to the floor.
Steel cezve
One of the most practical options for cezve. Steel cezve in age is, perhaps, only inferior to copper. The price for such Turks differs as well as for granite ones. There is often an overpayment for the brand. In general, a good steel cezve can be bought for 250-500 rubles.
There are many advantages: affordable, do not break when dropped, coffee evenly heats up, aesthetic, very different volumes - from "one-cup" to large-volume cezve, in which you can brew coffee for a large companies. Steel cezve does not affect the taste of coffee.
Of the shortcomings - they heat up quickly, you need to especially watch out.
Aluminum cezve
Good enough on one condition: the coffee must be very good. If the coffee is old, or brewed incorrectly, the aluminum turkey will accentuate the taste of the coffee.
Pros: very cheap and lightweight. You can buy a medium-sized aluminum Turk for 100 rubles. Good budget option. I believe that you can buy an aluminum turkey as a spare - for example, if you buy a granite one.
Copper cezve
Probably, from the background of the photo, it is obvious what choice I made. Copper cezve appeared around the time people started brewing coffee. This is the most ancient material.
For the price - slightly above average. For example, my medium-sized Turk cost me 650 rubles. The consultant said that such a cezve is almost eternal - it is impossible to break, does not deteriorate, even with terrible exploitation, such a Turk does not lose its properties. The consultant also said that such a Turk improves the taste of any coffee, i.e. in such a turk it is impossible to spoil the coffee. This won me over.
Of the shortcomings, perhaps, the high price.
Cezve has already tried it. The taste of the coffee is really amazing. Soft and enveloping. The consultant was right.
Which one would you choose and why?
