Russian NPPs set a new record in 2021 and produced 222.436 billion kWh of energy
The energy crisis raged almost all over the world, but at the same time bypassed Russia. And the thing is that we did not chase the trend and completely abandon "non-ecological" generation in favor of wind turbines and solar panels.
And a fairly large share in the country's generation is occupied by the so-called peaceful atom, which even ardent environmentalists are beginning to recognize as a “green” source of energy (and, moreover, the cheapest one).
Therefore, it is not surprising that Russian nuclear power plants have once again rewritten the record for energy production and have also significantly reduced CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
There is a new production record
The past 2021 was marked by the establishment of a new energy record. Thus, Rosenergoatom confirmed the status of the largest generating company in the Russian Federation. After all, its branches cumulatively generated more than 222.436 billion kWh.
All this energy not only went to meet the needs of both the population and industry, but also did not allow CO2 emissions in the equivalent volume of 111 million tons (in the event that the same amount of energy was generated by burning carbon).
The largest contribution to the achievement of this indicator was made by such stations as:
1. Kalinin nuclear power plant. The generation amounted to more than 34.3 billion kWh.
2. Balakovo NPP. The generation amounted to more than 33 billion kWh.
3. Rostov nuclear power plant. The generation amounted to more than 31.7 billion kWh.
The sixth unit at the Leningrad NPP, which was put into operation in March 2021, also made a significant contribution to the achievement of the next record, the capacity of which, by the way, amounts to a considerable 1200 MW. Optimization of the repair company for 107 days also helped significantly.
As a result, Russian NPPs also fulfilled the FAS balance by almost 102.2%, because the plan was set at 217.674 billion kWh.
