He poured a monolithic staircase into his house. Why is it better than wood or metal

click fraud protection

The final stage of work in the 2021 construction season. was the construction of a monolithic staircase to the second floor. Staircase placement is non-standard. Usually, a separate space in the house is allocated for it. But since I have, according to the project, floor slabs, with support on the central wall, then for the smallest volume of monolithic work I placed it above the central entrance, and placed a window above the staircase.

It was still at the design stage of the house. Due to the complex project, with winding steps and curved bottom surfaces, I decided to entrust the work to the master. Looking ahead, I will say that, without knowing some of the nuances, I would not have succeeded. Before starting the construction of the stairs, the master made the final project (he coordinated the sketches with me three times).

As a result, I settled on a smooth-hemmed version and moved the intermediate platform closer to the upper point of support, to the floor slabs. Several frames during the installation of the formwork:

Boards and OSB remained from the formwork from the filling of the armopoyas and the attic floor. I purchased only fittings with a diameter of 12 mm and 10 mm. Only the bottom row was reinforced on the stairs. And the platform and the beam on which the staircase rests are in two layers. It is not recommended to support monolithic stairs on the floor slab. No more than 15 thousand rubles were spent on materials. (additionally, only self-tapping screws and a sheet of plywood were purchased).

The installation took just over 10 days. I ordered concrete at the plant in the amount of 2.5 m3 of the M350 brand with minimum mobility. Several assistants poured out of the concrete truck immediately into buckets and poured the stairs. The mixer was idle for 1 hour. But it's easier to fill this way. You do not need to collect the container and pick up from there with a shovel.

Because the night temperature was already below -15 degrees, then after pouring the stove was heated and the heater turned on. Daytime view the next day. It kept the house warm, and the concrete began to gain strength.

After 42 days, he began to remove the formwork. The self-tapping screws are twisted from the inside, somewhere I had to work with an assembly and neatly with a sledgehammer. Also, where you can unscrew whole screws (they will come in handy again).

I thought that the staircase would crush its view over the entrance. But even with artificial lighting, this is not felt. I'm happy with the result. Cost of work - 80 thous. rub. Taking into account the materials - it turned out about 110 thousand rubles (I do not consider the formwork, it has already been paid for and will be useful again). Of course, another round amount will be spent on finishing it.

The process of removing the formwork can be seen in the video:

And now, to the topic of the article - why I chose a monolithic staircase, while there are options on a metal stringer or entirely wooden.

A relative also has wooden floors in aerated concrete house. He chose a ladder made of thick plywood. It is lightweight and can be assembled quickly. everything was made in production. Installation took place after finishing in the house (the temporary staircase was dismantled). His choice is logical and clear. The cost is not one hundred thousand rubles (in the final version). But it's still a tree. How long does it last before squeaks appear? Not sure, but good if 10-15 years old.

Ladder on a metal stringer. A minimum of materials, they can also cook separately, bring and install. In terms of the duration and cost of materials and work - about how to fill in a monolithic one. But the view of such a staircase is not for everybody. I am not a supporter of transparent and angular forms. Although to some it will seem airy and elegant.

What are the advantages of my option? The concrete in a monolithic staircase is a heat accumulator. If the electricity suddenly goes out or the boiler goes out - 2.5 m3 of concrete with floor slabs will cool for a long time, not allowing the air in the house to drop below 2-3 degrees per day.

The feeling of being in a house made of stone is like in a strong and durable structure. A monolithic staircase enhances these sensations. Nothing script, no trampoline, no looseness even if you jump on it. In three points, it goes deep into the walls, merging with them into one whole.

Does the paint stain? Did you screw up while preparing the wall?
