Which is better: aluminum tape or metallic tape? I tried both options in my work, and I understood the difference.
At first glance, these two rolls are no different. Upon closer inspection, you can see that they shine differently. And when you try it in practice, it becomes clear what each of them is intended for ...
Friends, welcome to my channel. After I finally assembled my homemade heat exchanger, it was time to put everything back in place.
Well, in addition to all these boxes, I have to collect ventilation ducts, and spread everything around the house.
In the installation of ventilation, there is one important nuance - this is the sealing of joints.
And it is most convenient to do this work with the help of special tapes and adhesive tapes.
Unlike the same sealant (which can also be applied), with adhesive tape the process is easier, cleaner, and no less reliable. And a big plus is easy dismantling, or some adjustments. You should not forget about it, especially when you are doing the work for the first time, like me...
But I didn't think there would be a dilemma.
It turns out there is aluminum tape, and metallized tape.
✅ Arriving at the store, I immediately realized that there is some difference in them, because aluminum tape costs 350 rubles per roll, and metallized tape costs 90 rubles.
For the sake of interest, I took both, and checked in the case.
Metallized tape is essentially like ordinary tape, only shiny.
- The main advantage that immediately catches the eye is durability. That is, you can crush, pull, press as you like, and are not afraid that it will tear.
- At the same time, it sticks quite well. Only on some bends and uneven surfaces it will not be possible to ideally press it.
I would say that it is great in such ideal conditions when you need to collect something at the table.
Aluminum tape is another story.
- Here you immediately feel a very powerful adhesion, to almost any material.
- But at the same time, this is just a foil with an adhesive base, so the strength of this adhesive tape is rather weak. So in places where some voids form, you don’t need to press it, it will break through ...
But at the same time it is great for sealing some uncomfortable uneven surfaces.
In my work, both of these adhesive tapes have found use.
Probably, it is necessary to combine them depending on the situation, then the air duct connections will come out strong, reliable and tight.
And I wonder where, besides ventilation, these adhesive tapes can be used?
Friends, if you know, then be sure to share. I look forward to feedback in the comments: opinion, your experience, just thoughts. Everyone is welcome...
