I am interested in the household, so sometimes I can discuss certain topics with a friend. For example, he recently told me that plaque accumulates on the forks, which we often do not even notice.

Even if the hostess regularly cleans them, they still lose their luster, plaque accumulates on them. This happens because fats, microscopic food remains, eventually turn into solid deposits that cover the fork with a thin layer.

For example, you can take a clean fork and carefully examine it. The lateral surfaces of the teeth, the depressions between them, the depressions in the relief patterns - everything is covered with a thin layer of plaque, which even changes their color.

This happens because the devices are made by stamping. Before the products go on sale, polishing is not properly carried out, so bumps and roughness remain on the sides of the metal. Small particles of dirt gradually fill them, harden. So it turns out a plaque that does not react to an ordinary sponge and detergent.

How to get rid of plaque

I learned a way to radically get rid of the sticking of dirt on the forks.

I take an emery sheet with a grain no larger than eighty. Even smaller ones are better - 120, 160, 180 and even two hundredths. It can be in the form of a circle or ribbon, I cut it off from the sheet.

I lay down a towel so as not to litter. You will also need a square - a school one, made of plastic.

We take sandpaper, fold it along the ruler so that it does not bend, and begin to clean the space between the teeth, each face, in turn. We tilt, grind in different ways, to a shine.

Now the surface will become smoother, without nicks and burrs. The fork will stay clean and shiny.

And to quickly add shine, you can use a potato. You cut it and rub the spoons and forks. They immediately become fresh in appearance, shine. The same result will be if you make a solution of ammonia (1/9), moisten a soft cloth in it and wipe the appliances.

I have another way in stock, which is not cheap. But I used it to wean my son from constantly drinking Fanta, Coca-Cola and Sprite. These drinks are quite expensive, and they do more harm than pleasure. You fill the appliances with soda, let them stand, and then you can pull them out, rinse them and make sure that they sparkle, the plaque has come off. In general, these drinks and sewers are excellently cleaned.

Sonny looked and switched to homemade lemonade. I recommend it to parents - both savings and benefits for the child.

Although hand sanding gives excellent results, especially if the sanding is with minimal grit, it cannot be used for all appliances.

Spoons and forks with silvering and gilding will be hopelessly damaged. And for table silver, this method is generally not suitable, since it is a soft metal that requires delicate handling.

For silver, cleaning with ordinary toothpaste or powder is suitable. Fine salt or sifted wood ash is also suitable. Moreover, areas with enamel inserts or blackening cannot be rubbed either. But this is a separate issue.
