Poland believes that the new gas contract between Moscow and Beijing greatly reduces Russia's dependence on supplies to Europe
Signed long-term gas contract between Russian Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) for the supply of gas via the Far East route will greatly reduce the dependence of the Russian side on gas supplies to European Union.
So say the experts of the Polish portal Gazeta Wyborcza. This material will discuss the new gas contract and concerns in the West.
There is a new long-term gas contract with China
On the first day of the Winter Olympics in Beijing, a multi-year contract for gas supplies to China was signed. In this way, exported blue fuel from the Russian Federation to China will amount to 48 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Commenting on this contract, the Polish side made accusations against the Russian side. According to them, it is Russia that is to blame for the development of the crisis situation associated with the lack of energy resources and for the fact that there is a real “gas blackmail” due to Nord Stream 2.
In addition, the Polish side stated that the contractual agreement with China could reduce dependence on blue fuel sales to the West.
So, according to A. Kublik (Gazeta Wyborcza), the new agreement will enable Beijing to become the number one buyer of domestic gas, displacing from the first place Germany, since the commissioning and active use of the Soyuz Vostok gas route will lead to the fact that supplies to China will increase by twice.
According to the Poles' estimates, within 10 years China will receive about 100 billion cubic meters of gas, which is almost 2/3 of the total volume supplied to the West.
Yes, China and the EU (European Union) will receive gas from different fields, so it cannot be said that the EU can completely lose Russian gas, but the fact that by increasing exports to the East will reduce exports to the West with minimal economic losses indisputable fact.
Well, given the "capriciousness" of Western consumers, it is quite logical that Gazprom is increasing supplies and strengthening cooperation with more reliable consumers from the East. And since Europe is concerned about this, it means that the Russian side is doing everything right.
