In Russia, a new robot "Marker" was tested as an effective means of combating drones
In the Russian Federation, a promising robot "Marker" was tested in the role of air defense of the so-called "near hand", and in the future this the robotic complex will be used to counter UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and specifically to protect against kamikaze drones.
The new robot "Marker" and the hopes associated with it
The fact that the promising robot "Marker", with which experts pin rather high hopes, was tested as an air defense system, it became known from the official message of the executive director of NPO Androidnaya Tekhnika E. Dudorov, as reported by RIA Novosti.
So, according to the expert, today there is a steady trend in the use of fully autonomous so-called “kamikaze drones”.
Therefore, it makes no sense to jam the signal, since the UAV flies along a strictly defined trajectory to a specific target. At the same time, group raids by such drones pose a particular threat.
And in order to effectively combat such a threat, it is precisely proposed to use the Marker robot, which will find the UAV in automatic mode, and then destroy it using the means mounted on the combat module.
In order to effectively detect small objects with a minimum scattering area, the Marker was equipped with the latest radar station.
After the station detects the drone, it will be tracked by optics, and the target will be hit by a machine gun.
At the same time, the combat rifle complex has the ability to rotate at a maximum speed of 350 degrees per second. And neural networks will help to detect and determine targets, which in some cases will perform the task better than a human operator.
According to experts, the "Marker" showed a fairly high efficiency in the confrontation with air targets. And soon it will be possible to install a variety of equipment to combat UAVs.
I would also like to note that recently the Marker robot successfully covered 100 kilometers in a fully autonomous mode over rough terrain.
As they say, modern challenges require modern solutions, so the development and implementation of such robots as "Marker" is a completely logical response to modern threats.
