After tiny kitchens of 4-6 squares, open kitchens combined with the living room cause delight and euphoria for many housewives. But this joy does not last long. After all, it’s not enough to have a spacious room, you need to understand how to equip it wisely!

Good afternoon dear friends!

For the design and decor of the combined kitchen is significantly different from the isolated one. And above all, the fact that the kitchen set, household appliances and all its workspace will now be in full view. And this is the primary nuance, without taking into account which it will not work to make a truly functional, stylish and cozy kitchen! At the same time, there are still subtleties, for example: the style of the interior, the size of the room, the layout of the kitchen, without which it will be extremely problematic to achieve an ideal result.

So, so that you do not get into a mess, I collected 6 Common Koi Mistakes meet all the time when arranging a combined kitchen-living room.

Mistake #1. Completely open space. In an effort to create a large single space, many completely forget that the kitchen is not always in perfect order. And some cooking processes are not as attractive and aesthetic as they are presented on TV or on the Internet. Therefore, think it might be worth zoning and installing a small visual barrier between the living room and the kitchen. At the same time, I'm not talking about a full-fledged wall! No and no again.

It is enough to use a wooden, glass, plasterboard false partition, or maybe even textiles as an option: light curtains or thick curtains.

Mistake #2. Lack of common touches in both the living room and the kitchen. The room becomes unified not only because of the absence of blank walls. Here, the overall style of the interior is more important, as well as the use of similar pieces of furniture, lighting, decor and accessories. The execution, material, shape, color or concept can be repeated.

Furniture in the same style can be used in the living and kitchen areas (for example, stools, armchairs, chests of drawers, cabinets in the style of the 70s), accessories from same material (bronze lamps, faucet, furniture handles), as well as a very similar color palette both in the setting and decor.

Mistake #3. Set up an island at any cost. Before installing a kitchen island, think about the size and proportions of your kitchen-living room. After all, you will need to provide a convenient passage, and this is about 90-100 centimeters between the new interior element and the furniture.

Keep in mind if your combined kitchen is less than 15 sq. meters, then the island in it will be an extra detail. An alternative to it can be a large table. And for storage, it is better to provide an additional closet in the kitchen or outside it, for example, in the hallway.

Mistake #4. Buy visually "heavy" furniture. Dreaming of a dark kitchen set? Think again! After all, dark high cabinets and wall cabinets can instantly reduce any space, create the impression of tightness and clutter. Especially if there are a lot of them installed. In this case, you should not choose a completely white headset. For decoration, it is better to look for a compromise solution, for example, make dark cabinets from below, and light ones from above.

Or make a color contrast between the light facade of the headset and a darker countertop with an apron. Also, do not rush to give up open shelves, because a large number of solid closed cabinets makes the kitchen boring, uninteresting.

Mistake #5. Trying to save money on technology. I will say this: the combined kitchen does not accept savings. No. In addition to the fact that all appliances (namely, a refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, washing machine) must be built-in, you also need to purchase the most silent models, which is much more expensive. Special requirements should be made to the quality of the hood, because you do not need unappetizing smells in the residential part of the room.

In addition, small household appliances (food processor, microwave) will also have to be hidden behind the facades of the headset. Be sure to consider this fact.

Mistake #6. Use the same type of lighting. Save on lighting, too, will not work. Since a pair of identical lamps in a combined kitchen-living room will not be enough. It is necessary to provide bright functional lighting in the working area, slightly less intense lighting above the dining table and, of course, several lighting options in the recreation area.

And do not forget about additional sockets (including those built into the island). With their help, you can always connect wall sconces or put elegant electric candles.
