How not to "run into" a fine? How many meters are speed cameras tracked by the traffic police
Most drivers are always in a hurry somewhere and do not really want to keep the speed limit. The cash flow of fines was especially plentiful at first, when not all car owners had time to navigate the new conditions for tracking auto violations. Receipts for fines flowed like a river into the mailboxes of car owners, who, at times, did not remember where and when they were passing.
The appearance of video cameras at the same time deprived most of the traffic police inspectors with whom it was possible to "negotiate" with a tasty feeder. The number of autocameras is increasing every year, and the distance between them is decreasing.
What violations are recorded by the cameras?
Drivers, especially inexperienced ones, often, seeing a hanging camera, begin to get nervous and fuss, and make mistakes that lead to violations. Some try to slip through, "hiding" behind a heavy vehicle or bus, others abruptly slow down, thereby creating an emergency situation for the cars behind. Therefore, in order not to make such mistakes, the driver should, first of all, know that traffic cameras record the following violations:
- Vehicle movement at a speed of 10 to 200 km per hour;
- Compliance with traffic lights;
- Crossing the stop line at the crossing;
- Crossing a solid line while overtaking;
- Stop prohibition.
In Russia, there are currently mainly three types of surveillance and control systems with a radar function: CRIS, Arena and Strelka. Let's consider them in more detail.
"Arrow"
Strelka is a domestic system for fixing road violations. It was created on the basis of military radar systems. The camera controls the entire flow of cars at a distance of up to 1 kilometer, and is able to fix the speed with an accuracy of 2 km per hour. The range of speeds that this complex remembers is 5-180 km per hour. Recall that the average speed of a person is exactly 5 km. at one o'clock.
The minimum measurement range is 50 meters. So, being next to the bar on which the cameras are hanging, it is already useless and too late to change lanes or slow down. The system has already seen and calculated everything. True, the system fixes the number of the car at a short distance. This system is installed on highways or roads with a large flow of cars.
Arena
The Arena system can be considered the most popular among the traffic police. It can even fix the faces of the driver and front passenger in the cabin, but its visibility range is small - from 300 to 150 meters. But she is able to fix and reverse speed. Speed range - 20-250 km per hour. It is installed on roads with a minimum number of lanes. With a large flow of cars, this camera gives erroneous information.
CHRIS
CRIS is a mobile system. Traffic police officers use it at traffic police posts, or in their patrol cars. The system photographs the car at a distance of 50-100 meters.
At night, visibility is reduced, and the camera captures the car at a distance not exceeding 50 meters using infrared illumination.
How to protect yourself?
Car owners are not millionaires and also began to think about what to oppose to the all-seeing eye of the traffic police. Radar detectors come to the rescue, which remind drivers of where the camera is installed. Video camera data is included in the software of video recorders and navigators. True, these gadgets cost at least 5 thousand rubles. And not every car owner decides to purchase them.
There are also applications for phones that inform car owners about the location of traffic video equipment. To find them, you need to go to the smartphone store and look for an application called radar detector. The store will offer 5-6 such programs to choose from. Most of them work without an Internet connection, with the exception of Yandex Navigator, for which the presence of the Internet is required.
