The cherry blossoms have faded. What now needs to be done to get more Ovaries, and therefore a Gorgeous harvest
After the petals have fallen into the cherries, a large amount of a small ovary remains in place of the flowers. But it so happens that only a tenth of the ovary fully matures, everything else crumbles prematurely.
In order to get a full harvest from a tree, you need to know how to care for the plant after flowering.
The reasons why cherries do not give a full harvest
1. Insufficient pollination. This is the most common problem. To solve it, during the flowering period, the plant is sprayed with a weak solution of natural honey. This will attract pollinating insects.
2. Insufficient fertilization. During the period of fruit development, it is worth feeding the cherries with phosphorus and potassium. It is worth giving 20 g of sulfate and 35 g of superphosphate to a bucket of water.
This solution should be poured under the root of the plant. You can also dissolve a glass of wood ash in 10 liters of water and fertilize the plant.
3. High soil acidity. To test the acidity at home, you should take some soil from under the cherries, and dissolve it in water, and then add soda.
If a reaction occurs (bubbling and hissing), the soil is too acidic. To eliminate it, it is enough to add chalk in the form of a powder to the soil.
4. Not enough boron. To solve this problem, it is enough to treat the tree with a boric acid solution.
This can be done during the flowering period or after the ovary has begun to form. It is enough to dissolve 2 g of powder in one bucket of water and process the plant.
What can be done to improve the quantity and quality of the crop
Cherry perfectly tolerates a lack of moisture, but dry and hot summers are not the most favorable situation for the formation of the crop. The plant needs to be watered, but in moderation.
Excessive moisture leads to a lack of oxygen in the soil. This situation inhibits development and negatively affects the condition of the plant.
Most often, it is enough to water the cherry immediately after flowering, and the second time at the time of the formation of the ovary. One plant is given from 5 to 7 buckets of water (if the cherry is young, then less is possible). It is necessary to ensure that moisture goes deep into the soil, and does not spread over the surface.
Also, to improve the taste, cherries are treated with a solution of succinic acid. It not only activates many processes, but also improves the taste of the fruit. 1 g of the preparation is given in a bucket of clean water, and the plant is sprayed.
There are self-fertile and self-fertile varieties. The first cherry option will bear fruit anyway. Self-fertile cherries need other pollinating varieties to be planted nearby.
Otherwise, the ovary will not form. All varieties planted on the site must be selected so that they bloom at the same time. Also, the processes of pollen germination and the quality of pollination, and hence the yield, depend on weather and temperature conditions.
